Providing councils with the freedom to use funds in a way that responds to local needs and priorities and avoiding the ringfencing of specific funds, is key to ensuring financial sustainability and sound financial management on the part of authorities themselves.</p><p>The 2019-20 settlement confirmed that Core Spending Power is forecast to increase from £45.1 billion in 2018-19 to £46.4 billion in 2019-20. This is a cash-increase of 2.8 per cent and a real-terms increase in resources available to local authorities. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/02/2020 answer text <p>I and my Ministerial colleagues and officials have very regular engagement with the Local Government Association (LGA) and other representatives of local government on a wide range of issues, including services for children and young people.</p><p>In 2020-21, local government will receive the largest year-on-year increase in spending power in almost a decade. Core Spending Power will rise by an estimated 4.4 per cent in real terms, to around £49.2 billion. This will help provide valuable support for services to young people. We are pleased that the Youth Hostel Association offered to provide properties to be used by key workers and vulnerable members of society during the COVID-19 pandemic. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/03/2015 answer text <p>Since 2010, Coalition Ministers have undertaken regular visits to a wide variety of local authority areas in England, whilst balancing their Parliamentary work, internal Ministerial meetings in London and meetings of Cabinet Committees. Ministers also regularly host delegations from local authorities for meetings in Westminster.</p><p> </p><p>York's historic city, the traditional county town of Yorkshire, has a rich tapestry of cultural attractions and a thriving economy, including a particularly strong service industry sector and a fine university. I fear it is unlikely that Ministers will be able to visit this week before the dissolution of Parliament, but this will be our loss at not being able to see what York has to offer first hand.</p><p> </p><p>My Department does not centrally hold information on political visits that will take place after dissolution, but I understand the my rt. hon.
