It provides the court with a menu of 18 requirements to choose from (such as education, activity or curfew requirements).</p><p> </p><p>Youth Offending Teams supervise young people serving a community sentence and figures on the delivery of requirements that have been given to children who received a YRO are not held centrally. Youth Justice Statistics are published annually, including the number of requirements that have been given to children who received a YRO. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/01/2021 answer text <p>Paragraph 35 in Schedule 1 to the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 can now be found in section 194 of the Sentencing Act 2020. Section 194 gives the Secretary of State the power, by regulation, to make provision for the review of a Youth Rehabilitation Order (YRO) and to make provision about the frequency and conduct of those reviews and the court’s powers on review. This has not changed with the commencement of the Sentencing Act 2020, no secondary legislation has been made under this power.</p><p>We are aware of innovative local approaches and informal arrangements between some magistrates and Youth Offending Teams to improve information sharing and involve magistrates in reviewing the ongoing progress of children in relation to their orders. We are actively considering how the Ministry of Justice can learn from and best support these approaches, while ensuring we maintain the impartial court process. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/10/2020 answer text <p>We are clear that tackling child criminal exploitation is key to ensure improved outcomes for children.</p><p>Youth Offending Teams (YOTs) are run by local authorities which are responsible for putting in place training to meet the needs of their area. The approach of the Crown Prosecution Service in providing training in relation to criminal exploitation and the Modern Slavery Act 2015 has been to engage with YOTs locally, often alongside local community policing. This training has included explaining how the defence under section 45 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 operates, and the role that YOTs have in that process. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/06/2020 answer text <p>Although the Ministry of Justice does not centrally collect data on this, we are working to improve the outcomes for children with these needs.</p><p>Youth Offending Teams (which sit within local authorities) are at the forefront of working with vulnerable children. The Ministry of Justice and the Youth Justice Board have sought to build the knowledge of sector professionals in speech, language and communication needs. For example, the Youth Justice Board has worked with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists to develop guidance for practitioners and managers in Youth Offending Teams. The community order must include supervision, curfew and activity of between 90 and 180 days and may include electronic monitoring.</p><p>The information requested is not collected centrally. Youth Justice Statistics are published annually, including information of sentencing occasions resulting in a YRO, and the number and type of requirements given to children who received a YRO. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/09/2019 answer text <p>Local Youth Offending Teams (YOTs) are multi-agency partnerships (which include health services) and they determine which services are needed to address the needs of the children who offend in their area. As of June 2017, there were 127 full time equivalent posts for seconded mental health practitioners working in YOTs in England and Wales. This included 59.7 part time and 68 full time posts.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in England, are expected to work with NHS England and local partners across the NHS, public health, children and adult social care, youth justice and the education sectors, to jointly develop and take forward local plans to improve children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing, including children going through the youth justice system. In Wales, Local Health Boards (LHBs) are responsible for planning and delivering medical services, and aim to integrate specialist, secondary, community and primary care and health improvements. Table B breaks this down by local authority. The majority of this funding helps support the day-to-day business of Youth Offending Teams (YOTs), but it also includes some discrete additional grants for specific projects or initiatives, for example funding for restorative justice. The annual recorded value of the additional grants is set out in Table C.</p><p> </p><p>Due to a change in reporting processes the additional grants given in 2014/15 and 2015/16 were not included in the published totals in the 2017/18 youth justice statistics. Published totals for 2018/19 and 2019/20 are not yet available. Data for 2018/19 will shortly be available in aggregate form in the Youth Justice Board’s annual accounts and will be published at YOT level in the annual statistics published in January 2020. Data for 2019/20 will be available one year later.</p><p> </p><p>The overall youth justice grant has reduced by 56% (in real terms) between 2010/11 and 2017/18.
