	answer	answer is ministerial correction answer text <p>Youth Offending Services (YOS) were established in the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, which introduced a statutory duty for all local authorities to establish a multi-agency team, with members from police, social services, probation and education, to deliver youth justice services. YOS have a statutory duty to:</p><ul><ul><li>provide appropriate adults for children detained or being interviewed at the police station and provide support for children on bail;</li><li>help young people and their families through court proceedings;</li><li>write pre-sentence reports for the courts advising on appropriate interventions;</li><li>supervise young people serving a community sentence;</li><li>stay in touch with a young person if they’re sentenced to custody; and</li><li>assist in the child’s resettlement post-custody.</li></ul></ul><p>All children who come into contact with the YOS (including EEA nationals) will have their individual circumstances and needs assessed and will receive interventions and support accordingly.</p> question first answered 05/09/2019 16:25:18

	answer	answer is ministerial correction answer text <p>Achieving net zero is a priority for the whole of government, which is why the Prime Minister is chairing a new Cabinet Committee on Climate Change to drive action across all sectors of the economy and demonstrate the UK’s global leadership as we prepare to host the crucial COP26 talks in Glasgow in November.</p><p>The Ministry of Justice takes climate change very seriously and is committed to tackling the impact of this on its operations by collaborating across government to adapt and be resilient to the inevitable effects of climate change on its work.</p><p>As the second largest central government contributor of greenhouse gas emissions, we are very clear that reducing our emissions is a key priority. We have already reduced our emissions by 38% since 2009/10 and reduced our energy bill by £12m/year since 2014-15, enabling more funding for frontline services. The department is also currently discussing a new emissions reduction target for 2020 to 2025 with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.</p><p>The Ministry of Justice is developing its Climate Change Adaptation Strategy to prepare for the risks associated with, and impacts, of climate change on our estate, people, and operations.</p> question first answered 23/01/2020 17:20:55

	answer	answer is ministerial correction answer text <p>The Legal Aid Agency (LAA) keeps availability of legal aid providers under constant review, and takes urgent action whenever it has concerns.</p><p> </p><p>The LAA has recently tendered for new face-to-face housing contracts across the 134 housing and debt procurement areas across England and Wales. Contracts commenced on 1 September 2018. As of 31 May 2019, there is at least one provider offering housing and debt services in all but 4 procurement areas. Legal advice is still available in these areas through the Civil Legal Advice telephone service, and the LAA is considering how to secure provision in these areas and will set out next steps shortly.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to the Civil Legal Advice telephone service offering legal services in a range of issues to those who need it, we are investing £5m in innovative new technologies to help people access legal support wherever they are in England and Wales.</p> question first answered 02/08/2019 14:54:44

The move to the new system meant that staff had to spend time being trained and familiarising themselves with it. There were also some initial performance issues which have now been resolved.</p><p> </p><p>At the end of June 2019, 93% of users indicated, from five feedback options, that they were satisfied or very satisfied with the online application service provided.</p><p> </p><p>Urgent action has been taken to address the delays which have been experienced in the probate service. Her Majesty’s Courts &amp; Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is increasing staffing levels and further improving the digital service to help reduce waiting times.</p><p> </p><p>Official statistics are not published on the average length of time from receipt of the application to the issue of a grant of probate and letters of administration.
