star this property answer text <p /> <p>The legal profession is independent of Government and is regulated by approved regulators for which the Legal Services Board (LSB) has oversight responsibility. Complaints about the professional misconduct of solicitors are a matter for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). As such, I cannot comment on individual cases. I am informed that the SRA concluded its investigations in this matter in 2010 and subsequently published its findings.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p /> <p>Closure of courts is subject to Ministerial decision following public consultation. The MoJ consulted on the future of Abergavenny and Caerphilly Magistrates’ Courts in the constituencies of Monmouth and Caerphilly respectively. No Ministerial decision has yet been taken following that consultation.</p><p> </p><p>The MoJ consulted on the future of Rhyl County Court in the constituency of the Vale of Clwyd, and although it was decided to close that court, cases continue to be listed there while we consider whether moving to Prestatyn is still the best option.</p><p> </p><p>HM Courts &amp; Tribunals Service continues to keep the use of its estate under review to ensure it meets operational requirements.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>HM Courts &amp; Tribunals Service keeps the use of its estate under review in order to make the best use of its resources for users and taxpayers alike.</p><p> </p><p>The decision to close Rhyl County Court and move its work to Prestatyn Magistrates’ Court was announced by the Lord Chancellor in December 2010. The closure required enabling work at Prestatyn Magistrates' Court to accommodate the additional work, which has not yet been finalised. The court will not close until this work has been concluded. The effects on staff and levels of service were considered in response to the consultation and will form part of any closure implementation plan.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We are aware of independent assessments of female prison population internationally, such as the <em>World Female Imprisonment List </em>published by the Institute for Criminal Policy Research at Birkbeck, University of London.</p><p> </p><p>We are committed to doing all we can to address the issues around female offending so we can better protect the public and deliver more effective rehabilitation. That is why we plan to set out a strategy for female offenders, to improve outcomes and services for women in both the community and custody, including how we can do more in the community so custody is only used when absolutely necessary.</p><p> </p> more like this
