star this property answer text <p>The Department for Transport (DfT) funds the Environmental, Research and Consultancy Department of the CAA for work on aviation noise.</p><p> </p><p>Over the last 5 financial years the funding provided by the DfT was as follows</p><p> </p><p>2011/12 £725 460</p><p>2012/13 £760 087</p><p>2013/14 £694 712</p><p>2014/15 £613 267</p><p><del class="ministerial">£</del>2015/16 £712<ins class="ministerial">000</ins><del class="ministerial">k</del> (forecast for year end)</p><p> </p><p>Over these 5 years the funding has been used to:</p><ul><li>provide annual noise contours for Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted;</li><li>Maintain the ANCON noise model which is used to estimate noise exposure;</li><li>Technical support to DFT’s Aircraft Noise Management Advisory Committee;</li><li>Evidence to support policy consultations including the night flying restrictions at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted;</li><li>Evidence and support to DfT in negotiating noise and emission standards for aircraft within the International Civil Aviation Organisation;</li><li>Monitoring relevant research in the field of health and annoyance impacts of aviation noise.</li></ul><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The Department for Transport has recently updated its guidelines on the establishment and operation of airport consultative committees which includes recommendations on the types of organisations that should be represented. These can be found on the GOV.UK website. The government does not have a role in deciding which organisations should be represented on a particular consultative committee. Responsibility for the composition of the Gatwick Airport Consultative Committee (GATCOM) rests with Gatwick Airport in collaboration with the committee.</p><p> </p><p>A list of the names and organisations represented on GATCOM is publically available and can be found on the GATCOM website.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We anticipate that following the recruitment process we will be able to announce the Residents’ Commissioner in December.</p><p> </p><p>The Commissioner will report to Sir David Higgins, the Chairman of HS2 Ltd. This will create a direct link to ensure that the Commissioner’s views are heard at the highest level.</p><p> </p><p>The Commissioner will be based at HS2 Ltd’s head office in Canary Wharf and will have one staff member available to provide administrative support, as well as drawing on support from relevant teams across the organisation.
