However, officials in the Department and Acas are already monitoring the impact of Early Conciliation and I will make an announcement on evaluation in due course, once we have a sufficient evidence base to do so.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Between 1978 and 2002 the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) (a predecessor of the Department for Business, Innovation &amp; Skills (BIS)) collated accident data via the Home Accident Surveillance System (HASS) and the Leisure Accident Surveillance System (LASS), two linked databases holding details of home and leisure accidents that caused a serious enough injury to warrant a visit to hospital. In 2003 the DTI announced it would no longer fund the collection and publication of HASS/LASS data. The historical data is currently held by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department did not collate The Home Accidents Deaths Database.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

The costs recorded in each of the last four annual reports are as follows:</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>2013/14: £8,774,000</p><p> </p><p>2012/13: £1,449,000</p><p> </p><p>2011/12: £2,402,000</p><p> </p><p>2010/11: £587,000</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The annual report for 2014/15 is due to be published later this year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The spend in 2013/14 was principally due to the launch of the first wave of advertising for the Business is GREAT campaign, which has successfully highlighted Government support available to businesses, assisting many to find the help they need to grow.</p><p> </p> more like this

These include promoting the take up and increasing awareness of apprenticeships via the Get in, Go Far campaign and increasing awareness of rights for flexible working and shared parental leave. star this property answer text <p>The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills takes a targeted approach to enforcing employment law protections for agency workers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (EAS) enforce the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 (both as amended).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>These Regulations ensure protections for work-seekers because of the number of parties involved in the employment relationship – the work-seeker, the agency and the hirer. The Regulations include protections relating to ensuring work-seekers must be paid for all hours worked, cannot be charged a fee for work-finding and cannot be prevented from taking up a permanent position with a hirer.</p><p> </p><p>Employment agencies must also comply with national minimum wage (NMW) legislation which is enforced by HM Revenue and Customs. There are also health and safety protections in place for all workers, which are enforced by the Health and Safety Executive.</p><p> </p><p>EAS works collaboratively with these bodies on investigations and also works with a number of external bodies These include trade associations, Trading Standards and organisations such as SAFERjobs (Safe Advice for Employment and Recruitment).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>SAFRERjobs is a non-profit, joint industry and law enforcement organisation set up to raise awareness and combat criminal activities that may be attempted on those seeking a job, or through the services provided by the recruitment industry.</p><p> </p>
