	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/09/2019 answer text <p>Children who are victims or potential victims of trafficking and those who are separated often face great anxiety and uncertainty about their futures, as well as needing to navigate a number of unfamiliar processes to reach durable solutions about their future.</p><p> </p><p>I am aware of the regional service launched by the Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Board in early 2018 to support children in Northern Ireland who are victims of human trafficking and children who are separated from their families and their home countries. The Human Trafficking and Exploitation Act (NI) 2015, which was introduced to provide protection from traffickers and tackle modern slavery and exploitation, included a duty for the Health and Social Care Board to establish such a service and the service is delivered by Barnardo’s NI.</p><p> </p><p>The regional Independent Guardian Service is intended to strengthen the safeguarding arrangements to such children and specifically to assist, represent and support such children by listening to their views and making representation to, and liaising closely with all other agencies that fulfil key functions in the arrangements for their immediate and future care and protection.</p><p> </p><p>This issue is wholly devolved in Northern Ireland, and so it would not be appropriate to carry out an assessment or comparisons of the merits of the system.</p><p> </p><p> </p> answering member constituency Skipton and Ripon answering member printed Julian Smith question first answered 09/09/2019 13:13:35 answering member 4118 label Biography information for Julian Smith

I am doing everything I can to support the political parties in coming to an agreement, including continuing having detailed discussions with everyone involved.</p><p> </p><p>The report I laid before the House on Wednesday 4 September contains a fuller update on the progress towards restoring the Executive.</p><p> </p><p>The people of Northern Ireland deserve strong political leadership from locally elected politicians. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 31/07/2019 answer text <p>Any compensation payments would be accounted for by the Northern Ireland Office in line with the guidance in <a href="https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/742188/Managing_Public_Money__MPM__2018.pdf" target="_blank">Managing Public Money</a>. Individual payments of more than the threshold required under Managing Public Money would be noted separately. Any compensation paid in respect of litigation would be determined with reference to legal advice.</p><p> </p><p>In line with previous responses, the Northern Ireland Office will keep its obligations under review to ensure its requirements under fair employment legislation are met.</p><p> </p><p>As I answered previously, information on employees’ personal data is sensitive, in order to comply with DPA requirements, and so I am unable to comment further.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Images displayed in Stormont House are refreshed at regular intervals. Current images displayed reflect the culture and landscapes of Northern Ireland. These are in keeping with the rest of the building decor.
