star this property answer text <p>The Department for International Trade (DIT) intends to grow over 550 roles outside London by 2025 as part of the cross-Government Places for Growth programme. DIT’s second major location will be the Darlington Economic Campus, alongside three new trade and investment offices in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast. While DIT does not currently have plans for an office location in York, the Darlington Economic Campus will support delivery of the Levelling Up agenda in the across the North of England, including through increased job opportunities and associated economic benefits.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Food insecurity in developing countries caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a critical global issue. The UK-led action at the World Trade Organization (WTO) committed members to ensuring open and predictable trade and the continued free flow of food. This action has now been endorsed by fifty-four other members. We have placed priority on guaranteeing that the World Food Programme is unhindered by export restrictions, allowing it to best use its funding. We aim to build on this at the WTO’s 12<sup>th</sup> Ministerial Conference in June, urging Members to create a more sustainable, efficient and resilient global food system.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We conduct initial scoping assessments ahead of new Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and impact assessments once FTAs have been signed. These look at climate change as well as environmental concerns from biodiversity to air quality.</p><p>We have agreed ambitious environmental chapters with both Australia and New Zealand, which preserve our right to regulate to meet net zero, affirm our shared commitment to the Paris Agreement and seek to cooperate on a range of environmental issues.</p><p>Through trading relationships and promoting the take up of green tech, we can support global goals on the environment.</p> more like this

These include impacts on UK nations and English regions and on sectors of the economy.</p><p> </p><p>In the central estimates, the UK-Australia FTA could increase GVA in the South West by £131m, and the UK-New Zealand FTA by £34m, in the long run.</p><p> </p><p>The documents also describe the potential impacts on the agri-food sectors for the UK. star this property answer text <p>The UK’s strong support for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the African Union’s most ambitious regional economic integration initiative, was highlighted by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the AfCFTA Secretariat and the UK. This was the first of its kind with a non-African country. As a non-binding MoU, it will not be published. However, it will provide the UK and the AfCFTA Secretariat a framework for partnership on implementation of the agreement, trade facilitation and investment.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Department for International Trade officials convened a technical discussion with G7 partners on the 7<sup>th</sup> of September to share data, evidence and develop recommendations based on best practices to prevent, identify, and eliminate forced labour in global supply chains. Experts from international and domestic organisations and the United Kingdom's Modern Slavery Envoy were invited to identify challenges and opportunities for governments. G7 members shared their respective best practices and identified areas for strengthened cooperation. G7 Trade Ministers will discuss the recommendations when they meet in October.</p> more like this
