star this property answer text <p>In July 2022, an estimated 32,000 overseas entities were required to register. At the end of 31 January 2023, 19,665 had registered with Companies House and more than 5,000 applications were received but not yet processed.</p><p> </p><p>Where there is continued non-compliance these entities can be liable for criminal offences and financial penalties and will find it difficult to sell, lease or raise charges over their land until they are compliant. Companies House will accept applications received after the deadline to achieve greater transparency</p><p> </p><p>Companies House will work with partners, including land registries and law enforcement, to prepare cases for enforcement.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Prepayment meters (PPMs) allow customers to pay for energy on a pay-as-you-go basis and serve an important function by helping the avoidance of debt, court action and physical disconnection. Obligating suppliers to stop PPM switching even as a last resort could lead to an increase in bailiff action.</p><p> </p><p>My Rt. Hon. Friend the Secretary of State has also asked energy suppliers voluntarily to commit to stopping this practice. Ofgem has stringent rules on the force-fitting of PPMs. The Secretary of State has written to Ofgem asking it to conduct a review to make sure suppliers are complying with those rules and I met with suppliers on Wednesday 25th January.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As part of the Government’s 5-point plan regarding prepayment meters (PPMs), energy suppliers have been asked to self-publish the number of warrants for which they have applied.</p><p> </p><p>The independent regulator Ofgem collects and publishes a range of data on PPMs, including the numbers of households that have been remotely switched to PPMs. I refer the Hon. star this property answer text <p>It is likely that a combination of factors has contributed to excess deaths over winter 2022/23, including high flu prevalence, cold weather, the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 and health conditions including heart disease and diabetes. However, the Government recognises the difficulty many households, especially vulnerable households, are experiencing this winter.</p><p> </p><p>Energy efficiency improvements are the best way to tackle fuel poverty in the long term. Measures are available through a range of schemes including the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, the Home Upgrade Grant and the Energy Company Obligation.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has also announced significant support for this winter and next with specific measures for the most vulnerable.</p> more like this
