At the end of 31 January 2023, 19,665 had registered with Companies House and more than 5,000 applications were received but not yet processed.</p><p> </p><p>Where there is continued non-compliance these entities can be liable for criminal offences and financial penalties and will find it difficult to sell, lease or raise charges over their land until they are compliant. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/01/2023 answer text <p>Prepayment meters (PPMs) allow customers to pay for energy on a pay-as-you-go basis and serve an important function by helping the avoidance of debt, court action and physical disconnection. Obligating suppliers to stop PPM switching even as a last resort could lead to an increase in bailiff action.</p><p> </p><p>My Rt. Hon. Friend the Secretary of State has also asked energy suppliers voluntarily to commit to stopping this practice. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 31/01/2023 answer text <p>It is likely that a combination of factors has contributed to excess deaths over winter 2022/23, including high flu prevalence, cold weather, the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 and health conditions including heart disease and diabetes. However, the Government recognises the difficulty many households, especially vulnerable households, are experiencing this winter.</p><p> </p><p>Energy efficiency improvements are the best way to tackle fuel poverty in the long term.
