	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/04/2019 answer text <p>The Government and construction industry have agreed an ambitious Sector Deal which aims to transform the productivity of the sector, including measures to increase skills and apprenticeships. We are working with the Construction Leadership Council (CLC), Construction Innovation Hub and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to identify the skills needed for the construction sector of the future and helping design the qualifications frameworks and training programmes that will enable firms to train the next generation of apprentices in these skills. A joint Government and industry commitment to develop 50 new construction apprenticeship standards by the end of 2018 has already been exceeded, with 82 new apprenticeship standards agreed.</p><p> </p><p>Other measures include: a commitment to complete CITB’s reform programme by end 2019, to make it a more streamlined, responsive and effective organisation; an industry-led goal of increasing construction apprenticeship starts to 25k per annum by 2020; £34m investment in the Construction Skills Fund, to establish 20 onsite training hubs by 2020; an improved careers portal for the sector (through CITB’s GoConstruct), to help improve diversity of recruitment; work with industry to ensure sufficient high-quality work placements are available for the introduction of construction T Levels in 2020; and using public procurement to help drive investment in construction skills.</p> answering member constituency Pendle answering member printed Andrew Stephenson question first answered 29/04/2019 15:22:51 answering member 4044 label Biography information for Andrew Stephenson

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/04/2019 answer text <p>The Government’s objective has always been to have a functioning statute book in place by Exit Day and to ensure that the most critical secondary legislation was made by this point.</p><p>Each SI in the Department was carefully considered on a case-by-case basis.</p><p>As part of this analysis, BEIS officials considered the material impact of each SI and whether the changes required were minor and technical in nature, and therefore not deemed essential to be in force from day one.</p><p>These considerations and assessments have meant that my Department has been able to lay the critical secondary legislation required before we exit the EU.</p><p>The laying of EU Exit SIs allows Parliament to fulfil its essential scrutiny role. The exact nature of this scrutiny, and the steps required before an SI completes its passage, is dependent on the type of SI. Bullying or harassment is not tolerated at BEIS. BEIS is taking active steps where needed to address any issues, and is one of the best performing departments in government with regards to creating an inclusive culture, as highlighted by the cross-civil service people survey results.</p><p>Below are the figures for the number of bullying and/or harassment cases recorded against members of BEIS staff where advice and guidance was sought from our HR Casework Services team.
