star this property answer text <p>‘Building our Industrial Strategy’ published on 23 January, starts a consultation on how to invest this £4.7 billion worth of funding. It also consults on the technologies which the new Industrial Challenge Fund could support, which include smart and clean energy technologies.</p><p>This builds on earlier consultation by Innovate UK and the Research Councils on potential challenge areas for the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, initiated on 16 January. The Green Paper will help to further refine these choices, followed by further consultation by UK Research and Innovation when it come into being, subject to Parliamentary approval.</p> more like this

The strong market interest in acquiring a stake in GIB since the sale process was launched on 3 March 2016 further demonstrates the positive impact GIB has had in the market.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The sale of the Green Investment Bank (GIB) is being led by UK Government Investments, with advice from Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Herbert Smith Freehills. GIB and their advisors (UBS and Slaughter and May) are also providing significant and closely coordinated support.</p><p>The Government is following the National Audit Office’s recommendations on asset sales in carrying out the sale of shares in GIB, as set out in the document “Green Investment Bank: sale of shares” laid before Parliament on 3 March 2016.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Following the sale of the Green Investment Bank (GIB), should the company wish to amend, remove or alter the green objective within the objects of its Articles of Association, it must seek written approval from the Green Purposes Company Limited (GPC), which holds a special share in GIB (now called the Green Investment Group (GIG)).</p><p> </p><p>The five trustees of GPC, who are independent of Government and the GIG, will form a judgement on the proposed amendment, and will either approve or reject the change to ensure that the green mission of the GIG is not weakened.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK Green Investment Bank plc (GIB) has helped finance two projects in the Merseyside area.</p><p> </p><p>In December 2013, GIB committed £20m to the design, build and operation of a new ‘energy from waste’ plant on behalf of the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority. The facility, located in Teesside, will each year convert into energy more than 420,000 tonnes of residual waste from six boroughs in the Merseyside area, including St Helens North. The project has created approximately 75 permanent jobs, in addition to more than 100 jobs during the construction phase.</p><p> </p><p>In November 2014, GIB committed £30.1m to a new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant in Widnes the North West’s largest waste wood renewable power facility.</p><p> </p><p>The project has created more than 200 construction jobs and around 20 full time jobs in the operational phase.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, some of GIB’s UK wide investment platforms such as its indirect investments in LED lighting upgrades to Santander branches and NCP car parks are likely to have benefitted Merseyside including St Helens North.</p><p> </p><p>GIB provides a full list of its investments for each financial year on its website: <a href="http://www.greeninvestmentbank.com/" target="_blank">www.greeninvestmentbank.com</a></p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>In November and December 2016 the Green Investment Bank (GIB) incorporated twelve new Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs): Galloper Holdco Limited; OSW Co Holdings 1 Limited; OSW Co Holdings 2 Limited; OSW LP Holdco Limited; Project G Holdco Limited; Project G Holdings 1 Limited; Project G Holdings 2 Limited; Rampion Holdco Limited; WMR Holdco Limited; Rampion Investco Limited; New Green Interim Holdco Limited; and UK Green Investment Lyle Limited.</p><p>The SPV ‘UK Green Investment Lyle Limited’ was incorporated in the course of business-as-usual to support GIB’s investment in the Lincs offshore wind farm (publicly announced by GIB on 13 January 2017).</p><p>The remaining eleven SPVs were incorporated in order to facilitate the potential introduction of private capital in to a number of GIB’s offshore wind assets, following discussion between GIB and the UK Government. These entities are currently dormant and own no assets.</p> more like this
