The delivery of services within schools is for local determination and commissioning for the service is led by local authorities. Some schools will choose to commission additional school nursing capacity to meet specific identified public health needs. Current data collections do not cover the complete range of these organisations. As a result, it is not possible to provide accurate data on the total size of the school nurse workforce.
