The amount recovered is not available for reinvestment in the same financial year due to the calculations being finalised in the following financial year. Since 1 July 2022, nine integrated care board (ICBs) have delegated responsibility for the commissioning of one or more pharmaceutical services, general ophthalmic services and dental services. NHS England plans to delegate commissioning responsibility to the remaining ICBs for all dental services from 1 April 2023.
