	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/06/2018 answer text <p>​We are in regular contact with the Coalition about the need to ensure that any military operations in and around Hodeidah are conducted in accordance with International Humanitarian Law (IHL), including on the protection of civilians, and do not disrupt commercial and humanitarian flows through the port. The Foreign Secretary also made representations to his UAE and Saudi counterparts on 9 and 10 June respectively. I spoke with my UAE counterpart, Deputy Foreign Minister Gargash, on 13 and 16 June to discuss this and have received assurances that IHL and humanitarian concerns are being factored into operational planning. At all levels, including through regular engagement by our Ambassadors, we have underlined the critical importance of maintaining humanitarian and commercial flows through Hodeidah and Saleef ports. Both the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary raised the issue with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia during his visit in March.</p><p>We take alleged violations of IHL very seriously. When allegations of IHL breaches have been made against Saudi Arabia, it is important that the Saudis, in the first instance, conduct conclusive investigations. This includes pockets of Daesh activity in the south east of Syria, in the desert regions near the Euphrates river valley, and in the Yarmouk camp in the Damascus suburbs. The UK does not believe there to be a significant presence of Daesh fighters in Afrin or in other parts of northern Syria. We are aware of reports of dispersal of Daesh fighters through areas of northern Syria, but these are likely to be in small numbers and transitory in nature.
