star this property answer text The analysis to support the estimated £17-20 billion figure was published in a letter by the Chief Executive of Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs to the Treasury Select Committee on 5 June, 2018. The government is considering two approaches to a future customs relationship with the EU: a 'new customs partnership' and a 'highly streamlined customs arrangement'. Ongoing analysis continues to support the development of both models. more like this

star this property answer text The UK recognises the growing threats faced in Mexico by many Human Rights Defenders (HRDs), including those protecting religious freedom. Officials in the Embassy in Mexico City have regular contact with HRDs and Civil Society Organisations that support them. We work with international partners to monitor cases, observe trials and raise issues with the government. We are working closely with the government of Mexico to support a human rights agenda, including tackling corruption and strengthening the legal system, which some reports suggest are contributing factors to the challenges that HRDs face. Over the past four years, UK Ministers and officials at our Embassy in Mexico City have raised our human rights concerns with the Mexican Government and will continue to raise these, including as part of follow up to the last UN Universal Periodic Review. more like this

star this property answer text The UK has been clear that any solution to the conflict in the Donbas must be political not military and that the Minsk II Agreement provides a framework to resolve the conflict. Both sides need to be meeting their commitments under the Minsk agreements, but Russia remains fundamentally responsible for creating this conflict and continuing to maintain it through its political and material support for separatist forces. With respect to the recent law passed in Ukraine on Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories it is important to remember that Russia's territorial aggression in the Donbas and Crimea, and its broader efforts to undermine and destabilise Ukraine, represent a fundamental challenge to the rules-based international order and a threat to regional security. It is for the Ukrainian government to determine how it organises its response to this aggression. more like this
