<p>There has been no cross-government strategy on the global persecution of Christians
between 2003 and 2018, however the promotion of human rights has and remains at the
heart of our foreign policy and we regard freedom of religion or belief as a universal
human right. In my role as the Prime Minister's Special Envoy on Freedom of Religion
or Belief, I regularly raise the importance of this issue with international counterparts.
We condemn instances where individuals are persecuted because of their faith or belief,
including Christians, wherever it happens and whatever the religion or belief.</p>
