unstar this property answer text <p>The level and direction of spending on public services is set according to the government’s priorities at periodic Spending Reviews and at fiscal events.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>These decisions are supported by extensive evidence, including when appropriate international comparisons and examples of best practice and innovation.</p><p> </p><p>At last month’s Budget the Chancellor set out a 5-year funding plan for the NHS and £84bn additional spending. The Chancellor will set out spending plans for other public services at a Spending Review next year.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>As part of preparing for the UK’s departure from the EU, the Treasury has allocated £2bn of funding for departments in 2019-20. Details of the figures allocated to individual department were announced in the Written Statement on 18<sup>th</sup> December 2018 (HCWS1205). As ever, the Treasury continually engages with departments on spending pressures. These allocations are reflective of departmental need in various EU Exit scenarios.</p><p> </p><p>HM Treasury does not publish bids received from departments for public spending.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Since 2010, over 60% of jobs have been created outside of London and the South East, and all regions of the North of England have seen faster nominal productivity growth over that time period than London and the South East. The Government is continuing to support the Northern Powerhouse, for example, the £2.5bn Transforming Cities Fund as well as Devolution deals for Manchester, Liverpool and North of Tyne. We will continue to support this growth through the Spending Review later this year and other policies such as a refreshed Northern Powerhouse Strategy.</p> more like this
