	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/10/2014 answer text <p>Seafood manufacturers are precluded from applying for regional structural aid through the provisions set out in the European Commission’s state aid rules for the fisheries sector which apply to businesses involved in the processing of fish and fisheries products, as well as to the catching sector. The Commission views this as necessary to avoid distortion of the market and to ensure consistency with the objectives of the European Union’s Common Fisheries Policy. There was no compulsion on the contractors to use a defined proportion of cage trapping and controlled shooting. How they used these two methods was a decision for them to make. As the pilot culls progressed, cull companies decided to use more cage trapping, as this technique was found to work well under certain circumstances. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/04/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>Joint UK and South Atlantic Overseas Territories funding has supported a co-ordinating post based in the Falkland Islands since 2008 to, among other things, help meet obligations arising from the Agreement on the Conservation of Albatrosses and Petrels (ACAP), a daughter agreement to the Convention on Migratory Species. ACAP has been extended to the UK's South Atlantic Territories. Defra currently contributes £20,000 per year.</p><p>ACAP seeks to conserve albatrosses and petrels by co-ordinating international activity to mitigate known threats. Collectively, the UK's South Atlantic Overseas Territories are breeding range states for 12 of the 30 species currently listed by the Agreement. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/07/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>Determination of catches according to depth criteria and the time vessels fish at particular depths is labour intensive and requires extensive spatial analysis of catch records and vessel activity within a geographical information system. From analysis related to the EU deep sea access regime update discussions, we have provisional catch and vessel data available covering 2006 – 2012 (see tables attached). This covers total annual catches (all species) and the proportion of these caught below 600m, and vessels targeting deep sea species at depths greater than 600m. We have not carried out similar analysis related to depths greater than 800m or covering 2013. The Code was developed by the industry and now covers more than 85% of domestic milk production. I regularly discuss the Code with industry.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>I am aware of some concerns that exist about the notice periods for farmers where there are any price changes and how these apply to dairy co-operatives. I have emphasised that any difficulties or suggestions for improving the Code should be raised with the Rt Hon.
