	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/04/2019 answer text <p>When Countryside Stewardship was launched in 2015 Defra and Natural England set an ambition of delivering 500 new Higher Tier agreements each year.</p><p> </p><p>There have been four agreement rounds since then and there are currently 2,253 live Higher Tier agreements plus a further 782 woodland only agreements. Therefore, the ambition has been exceeded. For the current 2019/20 year the ambition is to deliver 400 new agreements. Individual landowners, including local authorities, are responsible for the care and management of ash trees on their land. The cost of ash dieback will differ between local authorities, depending on the prevalence of ash trees and the concentration of those trees that are affected by the disease. Council budgets for the care and management of trees on their land are determined by individual local authorities.</p><p> </p><p>Defra funds work on horizon scanning, border biosecurity, disease surveillance, contingency planning and research as part of an extensive programme of work on plant health. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/04/2019 answer text <p>This is a devolved matter and the below information relates to England only.</p><p> </p><p>There is already in place a systematic approach for the safe management of agricultural animal waste. Slurry and manure produced by farm animals and the associated controls are managed through zone designations and compliance regulations. The specific approach depends upon whether a farm falls within a Nitrate Vulnerable Zone (NVZ), which cover 55% of England, or outside an NVZ, in which case pollution control regulation applies.</p><p> </p><p>Under NVZ rules operators are required to store their manures and slurries for up to 5 or 6 months depending on farm type, keep records and only spread manures and slurries at certain times of the year, whilst keeping the application rates within nutrient limits. Under current pollution control regulation, stores must be constructed to a required standard, meet necessary construction requirements and have a minimum capacity of 4 months’ storage.
