This includes over 1,500 flood defence schemes, which will better protect more than 300,000 homes by 2021. This data only reflects electronic waste received at sites which have been approved as part of the WEEE regulations to issue WEEE evidence in support of the financial obligations placed on EEE producers.</p><p> </p><p>There are other waste operators, who will hold a permit issued under the Environmental Permitting regulations who will also be treating and recycling WEEE delivered to them outside of the WEEE producer Responsibility system. Such operators are not required under their data reporting requirement to provide specific WEEE data.</p><p> </p><p>Defra make a substantiated estimate on this additional WEEE treated and recycled, when reporting the UK position to the EU. The substantiated estimate is for an additional 270,000 tonnes per annum of WEEE being treated and recycled in addition to amounts detailed in the above table.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>£4.7 million of grant funding was announced on 12 June and made available through the Waste &amp; Resources Action Programme, to support new capital infrastructure projects that will help to recycle difficult plastic packaging and textile materials.</p><p> </p><p>The Government also incentivises business-led technology innovation through Innovate UK and its role to fund business-led innovation through the allocation of competitively awarded grants. This fund has previously supported chemicals recycling projects. star this property answer text <p>£36 million will be invested in schemes using the same criteria as for other projects in our current record level six-year capital improvement programme to better protect 300,000 homes by 2021. This funding is focused on maximising the economic benefits of Government’s investment and the number of homes better protected.</p><p> </p><p>The remaining £40 million will be particularly focused on deprived communities at a high risk of flooding. We will announce the criteria for this funding in due course.</p><p> </p><p>Regional flood and coastal committees will liaise with the Environment Agency locally to clarify their flood and coastal defence improvement needs, and ensure these are well understood when funding becomes available.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>£255 million has been allocated as an implementation fund to assist local authorities in carrying out feasibility studies and delivering their local plans. These will focus on supporting the development and implementation of measures to deliver compliance in the shortest possible time. The Government will assess these local plans to ensure they are effective, fair, good value and deliver the necessary air quality compliance.</p><p> </p><p>Legally binding directions require the 23 local authorities identified for the first time in the plan to produce initial plans by 31 March 2018 with final plans by 31 December 2018.</p> more like this
