star this property answer text <p>Most of our cabling requirements are likely to be sourced by our prime contractors and there is therefore no need for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to hold a list of potential suppliers. When a requirement for cabling is identified the MOD will procure, wherever possible, through open competition, assessing the tenders to ensure they meet the standards required before awarding any contract.</p><p>We remain satisfied that our supplier base can continue to manufacture the cables needed for our current defence programmes.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>An estimated distribution of the UK Armed Forces veteran population residing in Great Britain can be found in the 'Annual Population Survey: UK Armed Forces Veterans Residing in Great Britain', the latest edition of which (2016) is published at the following address:</p><p>https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/annual-population-survey-uk-armed-forces-veterans-residing-in-great-britain</p><p>As at 2016, there were an estimated 2.5 million UK Armed Forces veterans residing in households across Great Britain and 125,000 veterans living in households in the North East region of England.</p><p>The total number of veterans in Easington constituency is not held. However, information is held by constituency on the cohort of veterans awarded compensation under the War Pension Scheme (WPS) and the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS). As at 31 March 2018, there were 348 veterans in receipt of a disablement pension under the WPS, and 29 veterans who received compensation under the AFCS residing in the Easington Constituency.</p>

star this property answer text <p>I am pleased to report that Armed Forces Day was once again a resounding success.</p><p>The aim of Armed Forces Day is to provide the public with the opportunity to show appreciation for our Armed Forces and we work with national and regional media outlets to ensure it achieves high profile coverage. This year, grants were offered to over 100 organisers of local Armed Forces Day events and we also hosted the public event listings of over 300 local events on our website, armedforcesday.org.uk.</p><p>Unit commanding officers are encouraged to support local community events, both at home and abroad, with military support provided again this year throughout the UK and at our overseas locations, for example an open day at the British military base in Larnaca, Cyprus.</p> more like this
