star this property answer text <p>Since 2020 UK defence spending has seen several substantial increases, starting with a £20 billion cash increase in SR20, additional funding for munitions and wider resilience, as well as an additional £11 billion as part of the 2023 Spring Statement</p><p> </p><p>Over the next decade we have increased the budget for our Equipment Plan to £288.6 billion to ensure that the Armed Forces have the next generation equipment they need to defend Britain and maintain a strategic advantage.</p><p> </p><p>During this time we have continued to meet all operational commitments, including participating in every single NATO mission, as well as supporting the Granting in Kind of equipment, and training to Ukraine.</p><p> </p><p>We recognise the world is more uncertain and volatile than it has been for several years, and we have set out our longer-term aspiration to invest 2.5% of GDP on defence when the fiscal and economic circumstances allow.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Across the Armed Forces, there are extensive medical and welfare systems that offer support for those in need, provided by the Chain of Command, medical staff, welfare and pastoral staff. The Ministry of Defence also works closely with the National Health Service, the Defence Medical Services, Service charities, third parties and the single Services to provide 24-hour mental health services accessible for all Armed Forces personnel. This includes a 24-hour mental health helpline, funded by Defence, and delivered by Combat Stress.</p><p>Each Service also has dedicated suicide and self-harm policies and risk management procedures tailored to their specific nature, all of which are regularly reviewed and updated. This includes Vulnerability Risk Management training.</p><p>The Armed Forces Suicide Prevention Strategy and Action Plan, published in April 2023, also seeks to enhance organisational processes to support those at risk.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As part of the ten-year vision articulated in the <em>Strategy for our Veterans</em>, the Ministry of Defence introduced a 'Defence Holistic Transition' policy in October 2019. 'Defence Transition Services' (DTS) was established at the same time, to support those Service leavers who face the greatest challenges to making a successful transition to civilian life. The full-spectrum service is available to all Service leavers exiting the Armed Forces and is based on the needs of the individual, providing the specific support they may need and interventions to ensure issues are resolved. This support extends for two years after discharge and longer if necessary.</p><p>All Regular Service personnel leaving the Armed Forces are provided with employment support and training delivered through the Career Transition Partnership (CTP). Service personnel leaving the Regular Armed Forces are entitled to access CTP resettlement services two years prior to their discharge date and for two years post-discharge.</p>
