The 2015 Spending Review settlement protected counter-terrorism policing spend until 2020-21 and included a significant capital increase to deliver growth of key counter-terrorist policing capabilities.The Government is in regular dialogue with the police to ensure that the right powers, capabilities and resources are in place across all areas of policing.</p><p>In recognition of the pressures on policing following this year’s terrorist attacks, the Home Secretary has announced a further £24 million for counter-terrorism policing. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/11/2017 answer text <p>The Government does not direct Police &amp; Crime Commissioners or Chief Constables about the proportion of local funding that should be devoted to different crime types. Decisions on the operational deployment of resources are a matter for Chief Constables and Police and Crime Commissioners, who are held to account by the communities they serve. However, through the National Cyber Security Programme, we invested £117 million under the 2010-15 Parliament to bolster the law enforcement response to cyber-crime, in addition to any funding allocated locally.</p><p>The cyber threats we face continue to grow in scale and sophistication. This is why the National Cyber Security Strategy 2016-2021 is supported by £1.9billion of transformational investment.</p><p>The Government provides ring-fenced funding for counter-terrorism policing. The level of counter-terrorism police funding is published annually in a Written Ministerial Statement on the Police Grant Report. The use of another person’s identification details (or the use of false identification details), often referred to identity theft, is not itself an offence in law.</p><p> </p><p>Most instances of ‘Identity Theft’ come to light when victims’ details are used fraudulently to obtain goods, services or money using credit arrangements or loans.
