	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/06/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>In the event of a vote for independence, decisions about UK citizenship would <br>rest with the UK Government; the basis for entitlement to Scottish citizenship <br>would be for the government of an independent Scottish state to decide.<br><br>The UK has historically been tolerant of plural nationalities, and therefore it <br>is likely that it would be possible for an individual to hold both British and <br>Scottish citizenship. However, under current rules British citizens living <br>outside the UK cannot pass their British nationality on more than one <br>generation. So, the children of British citizens living in an independent <br>Scotland would be British citizens, but their children and subsequent <br>generations would not be.<br><br>The government of the continuing UK would also need to consider whether all <br>British citizens living in Scotland could retain their British citizenship upon <br>independence. This cannot be guaranteed and could be dependent on any residence <br>requirements or proof of affinity to the continuing UK. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/06/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>The Home Office provides ongoing support for local authority Prevent <br>coordinators funded by the Home Office in priority areas (currently thirty <br>local authorities, based on assessment of risk), to ensure that they understand <br>the threat of extremism and are equipped to deal with it effectively. This is <br>done through regular regional events, issuing briefings on specific issues, and <br>sharing best practice across different authorities. The police, including <br>police Prevent co-ordinators, also work closely with local authorities and <br>share appropriate information with them. <br><br>The Home Office issued advice in 2013 to help local authority Prevent <br>Coordinators manage the challenges posed by extremist speakers. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/06/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>Prevent, which is a key strand of the Government's counter-terrorism strategy, aims to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. The Prevent strategy, which was revised in 2011, now covers all forms of extremism where it creates an environment conducive to terrorism. <br><br>The Prevent strategy has three objectives: respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism and the threat we face from those who promote it; prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and ensuring that they are given appropriate advice and support; and work with sectors and institutions where there are risks of radicalisation that we need to address.<br><br>Frontline staff have a significant role to play. We have produced a training tool, ‘Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent' (WRAP), which teaches staff how to recognise people who may be vulnerable to radicalisation and how to refer people who may need support to our Channel programme.<br><br>Channel is a key element of the Prevent strategy, and was rolled out nationally in April 2012. It uses existing collaboration between local authorities, the police, the local community and statutory partners (such as the education and health sectors, social services, children's and youth services, and offender management services), to identify individuals at risk of being drawn into terrorism, assess the nature and extent of that risk; and develop the most appropriate support plan for the individuals concerned.<br><br>Since roll-out, over 2000 Channel referrals have been received, and over 300 people offered support.
