unstar this property answer text <p>The focus of Government activity with regards to prostitution and sex work is to tackle the harm and exploitation that can be associated with it, and we believe that people who want to leave prostitution should be given every opportunity to find routes out.</p><p>The Government has commissioned a research project into the prevalence and nature of prostitution in England and Wales; to inform the evidence base before any changes are made to policy and legislation in respect of prostitution. This independent research is being led by the University of Bristol and we anticipate receiving their report in the Spring this year.</p><p>It is illegal to keep a brothel in England and Wales, or to allow premises to be used as one, and the law does not distinguish between types of brothel.</p><p>Enforcement action is an operational matter for the police, who are in the best position to identify and respond to issues related to prostitution and sex work in their communities. They are supported in this by guidance developed by the National Policing Lead for prostitution, which emphasises the priority given to protecting vulnerable people from harm.</p>

unstar this property answer text <p>The Home Office publishes the number of female firearm certificate holders as part of the ‘Firearm and Shotgun Certificates in England and Wales Statistics - Financial Year 2017/18’ publication.</p><p>The data can be found in Table E2 here: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/firearm-and-shotgun-certificates-in-england-and-wales-financial-year-ending-31-march-2018</p><p>These statistics are experimental statistics and should be treated with caution as they are still being developed and have not been subjected to the same levels of quality assurance as the other figures in the publication.</p><p>Data as at 31 March 2019, will be reported in the ‘Firearm and Shotgun Certificates in England and Wales Statistics - Financial Year 2018/19’ publication. On 15 January I chaired the first meeting of the Vehicle Theft Taskforce, which brings together the automotive industry, insurers, the police, Government departments and others to help ensure that the collective response to vehicle theft in England and Wales is as robust as it can be. unstar this property answer text <p>The Home Office runs the Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme (ARIS), in which criminal property recovered under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 is divided between the Home Office and operational partners, based on their relative contribution to recovering these funds. These funds are calculated and paid quarterly in arrears to agencies, as soon as possible after the end of each quarter.</p><p>The safer communities fund is not operated by the Home Office but by local police forces. There is an expectation that payments made under ARIS will be used to further drive up performance on asset recovery and, where appropriate, to fund local crime fighting priorities for the benefit of the community.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Home Office has a duty to inform citizens and businesses about how leaving the EU might affect them, and to advise on the steps they may need to take to prepare for EU Exit.</p><p><br>Alongside business as usual operational communications, HM Passport Office (HMPO), working with Home Office, is part of the Cabinet Office-led Public Information Campaign to help achieve this. This includes campaign activity focused on passport renewal and EU citizens’ rights. This campaign includes print, out of home and TV advertising.</p><p><br>On 8th January 2019 a separate passport marketing campaign launched as part of the wider cross-government EU Exit Public Information Campaign. The passport-specific activity, via social media and digital advertising, encourages customers who are planning to travel to Europe post-EU Exit to check the validity of their passport using the online checker. To date 2.3 million users have checked their passport validity.</p><p><br>To support this marketing activity, HMPO has been working with other government departments and stakeholders from across the travel industry, asking them to share messages on their own customer channels. This work included the distribution of a toolkit including promotional materials in October 2018.</p>

unstar this property answer text <p>Our guidance relating to the changes to the rules for travel to Europe is in the event that the UK leaves the European Union without a deal. If the UK leaves the EU with no deal we advise that:</p><p><br>1. You should have at least 6 months left on your passport from your date of arrival. This applies to adult and child passports</p><p>2. If you renewed a passport before it expired, up to 9 extra months may have been added to your new passport’s expiry date. Any extra months on your passport over 10 years may not count towards the 6 months that should be remaining for travel to most countries in Europe.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>On March 7 the Government published a refreshed Cross-Government Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy providing an update on existing actions, and outlining additional actions to ensure that all Government departments are tackling VAWG. The refresh includes the wealth of insights gained from the domestic abuse consultation to ensure that all aspects of domestic abuse are considered across departments. <br>The domestic abuse consultation response committed to review our communications activity to ensure that we are providing relevant information to the public outlining clearly what domestic abuse is, and what options they have if they are a victim or are concerned about someone else who is a victim.</p><p>Over this spending review period we are providing £100 million of dedicated funding, including a £17 million VAWG Service Transformation Fund to 41 projects across England and Wales that support local areas to work collaboratively with specialist third sector organisations and develop best practice on early intervention and prevention, not just crisis response.</p>
