unstar this property answer text <p>We have agreed to protect the rights of EU citizens in the UK and UK nationals in the EU under the Withdrawal Agreement. During the implementation period, EU citizens coming to the UK and UK nationals going to the EU will be able to live, work and study broadly as they do now. Therefore, employers taking on apprentices who are covered by the Withdrawal Agreement, will continue to be able to access funding beyond March 2019. Once an eligible individual has started an apprenticeship, we will always fund them through to completion as long as they retain their eligibility to work in UK.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Apprenticeship funding can only be used to pay for apprenticeships and not courses, such as a Master of Business Administration. Whilst apprenticeships may replicate some training delivered by traditional courses, an apprenticeship has to meet certain requirements to make sure it combines on and off-the-job training and delivers occupational competence.</p><p>The Senior Leader apprenticeship standard, which is at masters’ level, has only been available since 27 February 2018. The department holds the overall number of starts on each apprenticeship standard but does not currently have published data on the number of Senior Leader starts.</p><p>We do not hold data on which apprenticeship standards levy-paying employers spend their apprenticeship funding on.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Apprentices are still paid by the official receiver if they continue to participate in learning and are actively seeking alternative employment with the support of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).</p><p>775 apprentices have successfully found new jobs with an employer who have agreed to continue supporting their apprenticeship to completion. The new employers are mainly small and medium-sized building contractors, which is consistent with the types of employer who recruit most of the apprentices in the construction sector. We do not have all of the new Individual Learner Records for the transferred Carillion Training Services apprentices reported by the new providers yet, but the data currently available from CITB has identified 15 apprentices are now employed by seven public sector employers (local authorities and housing associations) and two have joined the Army as apprentices.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has engaged directly with 1,148 apprentices in England and the official receiver has reported that they have secured new employment, with wages, for 775 apprentices to date and one apprentice has moved into full time education.</p><p>The CITB continues to support all affected learners and offer a range of support options. They are currently engaged in further work with the apprentices specifically targeting the remaining cohort of disengaged learners. unstar this property answer text <p>Securing good standards of literacy and numeracy increases individual productivity, improves employment opportunities, and supports economic growth.</p><p> </p><p>From September 2013, all 16-19 year old students have been required to follow a study programme which since August 2014 has included a requirement, as a condition of funding, to continue the study of mathematics and English if the student does not already hold a GCSE grade 4 or above. Students with prior attainment of grade 3 enrol on GCSE courses; all other students may enrol on a range of courses to help them make progress in these subjects, including GCSEs or Functional Skills.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Education has not made estimates of the costs to providers of delivering specific examinations. Rather, 16-19 education providers are funded for the overall study programmes that students take. These programmes include the provision of mathematics and English, where required. In 2015, we made a commitment to maintaining the 16-19 base rate at current levels until 2020.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to regular study programme funding of which mathematics and English provision is a part, in November 2017 we agreed to invest a further £40 million to help education providers improve basic mathematics teaching over the next five years.</p>
