star this property answer text
Earlier this year, we announced a programme of research and pilots across the country to investigate how to provide a balanced enrichment programme, combining engaging activities with healthy and nutritious meals, for the most disadvantaged school-age pupils.

Organisations were invited to bid for a share of up to £2 million. Seven of them were successful in securing funding to explore ways of supporting children from disadvantaged families to access free enrichment activities and healthy food during the school holidays.

The seven organisations that received funding for 2018 will report to the department on the impact of their work as well as on the number of disadvantaged children and families that have benefitted. The data and information collected during the summer will be used to shape our plans for 2019, which we will set out later in autumn 2018.
more like this
