star this property answer text <p>The Government’s plans for tackling air quality are set out in the national air quality plan for nitrogen dioxide, which was published in December 2015 and will be revised by 31 July this year. The Air Quality Expert Group (AQEG) is considering further the evidence around the potential of trees to contribute to improvements in air quality to inform our further policy development. The AQEG is an Expert Committee to Defra that provides independent scientific advice on air quality.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The role of the Environment Agency is to publish the information supplied by local councils in the public register, as required by the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. The Environment Agency aims at making it as simple as possible for councils to provide that information, including engaging with them on how to best submit data to the public register.</p><p> </p><p>The Electronic Public Register currently hosts data for 310 of 326 local councils across England.</p> more like this

The associated declaration makes clear that this goal can be achieved through a variety of measures. Our 5p charge on single use carrier bags is a good example of how we are contributing towards a reduction in the use of single-use plastic bags.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Working with the European Union and other Member States we will use this conference to reiterate our commitment to deliver healthy and productive oceans. To achieve this we will press for continued collaboration through the use of existing regional organisations, such as Regional Seas Conventions and Regional Fisheries Management Organisations. We will also aim to secure progress on marine pollution (including marine litter), implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change, and on a new internationally legally binding instrument under the United Nation Convention on the Law of the Sea.</p><p> </p><p>This will cover measures such as area based management tools (including marine protected areas), environmental impact assessments, capacity building and the transfer of marine technology, and marine genetic resources including questions on the sharing of benefits.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Defra is not undertaking research in this area though we understand that various organizations, such as Building Research Establishment (BRE), Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Baca architectural partnership are already engaged in this area.</p><p> </p><p>We are continuing to explore with the industry more widely on how people could be incentivised to take action to manage their flood risk. We recently published the Property Flood Resilience Action Plan. The group has set up task groups in specific areas to examine detailed issues.</p> more like this
