The Government recognises the concerns of stakeholders and is determined to get the best deal for the UK in our negotiations to leave the EU, including for our globally recognised beef and sheep sectors.</p><p> </p><p>As any responsible government would, we are preparing for all outcomes including the possibility of no deal. Extensive work to prepare for a ‘no deal’ scenario is under way to ensure the country continues to operate as smoothly as possible from the day we leave.</p><p> </p><p>We are in close contact with the beef and sheep sectors to understand and anticipate the effects on the sector of the UK leaving the EU without a trade deal. Significant work is already underway to ensure that UK exporters can maintain access to EU markets after March 2019. Wild animals are already within the scope of the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. The agreement was not specific to stun or non-stun slaughter. Moreover, a significant proportion of halal meat produced in the UK is stunned before slaughter. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/02/2019 answer text <p>In the Export Health Certificate (EHC) agreed with India there was no mention of stun or non-stun, as is the case with any EHC. However all slaughter of animals for export must strictly comply with EU and UK rules on animal welfare. Any additional requirements, including slaughter methods, is a matter for the importing and exporting parties to agree.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There are many animal health requirements within any EHC, these differ depending on the importing country. It is a document that refers to the origin of the animals that have been slaughtered in approved abattoirs and comply with a number of health requirements, including free from a number of animal diseases. This EHC differs in the respect that the Indian authorities insisted that a long lists of diseases, many of them not notifiable in the UK, be included in the EHC. This requires that owner/farm vet declarations are conveyed to the certifying veterinarian. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/02/2019 answer text <p>We have planted 15 million trees since 2010, and the Government is committed to planting 11 million trees in the countryside, and one million trees in our towns and cities, in this Parliament. We are confident that this commitment will be met with over three million trees planted in this Parliament to date. The Government has made major commitments to help meet these targets: in January last year, the Prime Minister announced £5.7 million to launch the new Northern Forest; and in the Autumn Budget, the Chancellor announced £50 million to support the planting of new woodlands through the Woodland Carbon Guarantee, together with £10 million to plant new trees in our towns and cities through the urban trees challenge fund.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to tree planting, the UK Government’s Clean Growth Strategy set out plans for the restoration of peatland. Peatlands store huge quantities of carbon as plant matter is transformed into peat. In April 2018, £10 million of funding for peatland restoration was allocated to four large-scale peatland restoration projects in England.
