answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/04/2019 answer text <p>The fit and proper person regulation requirements came into force for all National Health Service trusts and NHS foundation trusts in November 2014. The regulations require trusts to seek the necessary assurance that all directors are suitable and fit to undertake the responsibilities of their role.</p><p> </p><p>The Government asked Tom Kark QC to review the fit and proper persons test. The report on the review was published on 6 February 2019 and the Government has accepted two of the recommendations. These relate to standards of competence for directors of NHS organisations and the setting up of a database.</p><p> </p><p>We have asked NHS Improvement to develop proposals for implementing these recommendations, as well as reviewing if and how the other recommendations should be taken forwards. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/02/2019 answer text <p>In 2018, the Government had asked Tom Kark QC to carry out a review of the scope, operation and purpose of the Fit and Proper Person Requirement. The review, which was published on 6 February 2019, made seven recommendations, including to develop specified standards of competence that all directors, who sit on the Board, of any health providing organisation, should meet.</p><p> </p><p>The Government accepts this recommendation in principle, and has asked Baroness Dido Harding, the chair of the system-wide Workforce Implementation Steering Group, to look at how best to introduce new standards alongside other proposals on leadership and development of National Health Service managers, which is set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.</p> answering member constituency Wimbledon answering member printed Stephen Hammond question first answered 13/02/2019 15:01:58 answering member 1585 label Biography information for Stephen Hammond
