star this property answer text
The requested information for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) applications is not available as information on PIP claimants’ disabling conditions is not collected at the initial claim application stage. Only those who have a disability assessment determination decision will have a primary disabling condition recorded for them. The Department does not therefore hold data on the number of individuals with a particular condition who make a claim for PIP.

The latest available data on PIP claims in payment, including by main disabling condition and geography (e.g. local authority), are published on Stat-Xplore: https://stat-xplore.dwp.gov.uk. To filter for mental health illness, select ‘Psychiatric Disorders’ from the Disability menu on the left.

Guidance on how to use Stat-Xplore can be found here: https://sw.stat-xplore.dwp.gov.uk/webapi/online-help/index.html.

These data relate to the claimant’s main disabling condition. Claimants may often have multiple disabling conditions, but these cannot be identified from the data the department holds. Therefore there may be other claimants in receipt of PIP who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder who are not captured in the above data.

star this property answer text
No such assessment has been made. Reviews of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) are a key part of the benefit and ensure that not only do awards remain correct where needs may change but that we also maintain contact with the claimant, both features missing from its predecessor Disability Living Allowance. The length of an award is based on an individual’s circumstances and can vary from nine months to an on-going award with a light touch review at the ten year point.

PIP recognises that for the most severely disabled claimants, the award review process could seem unnecessarily intrusive. Existing PIP claimants with the most severe, lifetime disabilities, whose functional ability has remained the same, are more likely to have their evidence reviewed by a DWP Decision-Maker and will not need to have another face-to-face assessment with a healthcare professional.

We will continue to closely monitor developments across the health and disability landscape and engage with stakeholders to improve the service we provide. We are committed to ensuring that the PIP review process works effectively across the spectrum of disabilities and health conditions, including post traumatic stress disorder, other mental health conditions, cognitive impairments and physical disabilities.

Russian military flights can present a potential safety concern to other airspace users because of their practice of not communicating with air traffic control agencies with regard to their intentions, not filing a flight plan or not transmitting a recognisable secondary surveillance radar transponder code. Their activity therefore needs careful monitoring, which is why we intercept such flights.

The UK works closely with our Allies to keep NATO's airspace safe and secure and to enable a co-ordinated NATO air policing response.
more like this
