I am delighted that in its centenary year UK Export Finance was awarded ‘Best Export Credit Agency’ at the 2019 International Trade Finance Awards. As the world’s first export credit agency, UK Export Finance will continue to innovate as it has done for the past 100 years.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In 2016 the Department for International Trade (DIT) established a dedicated taskforce to deliver bespoke activity to attract foreign investment into the Northern Powerhouse. This activity includes: full profiling of the offer in key sectors for the region and showcasing these at events overseas; working with DIT’s overseas network, and local partners across the North, to deliver bespoke activity to promote the region as a destination for investment; international promotion of a portfolio of Northern capital investment opportunities; and provision of funding for the account management of existing foreign investors by local partners.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department for International Trade supports exports for the whole of the food and drink sector and in 2017 game meat exports were worth £7 million.</p><p> </p><p>Game meat exports receive the same level of support as the rest of the food and drink sector through initiatives such as the GREAT campaign and the recently launched Export Strategy. We also work with a variety of food and drink trade associations to ensure that the Government is providing the right kind of support. We will continue to use the UK’s reputation for high quality food and drink, with high standards of traceability and sustainability further increasing overseas demand for our products.</p><p> </p> more like this

The Department for International Trade is responsible for supporting British businesses around the world and promoting trade ties with country partners. New Age is one of the companies we support in Cameroon.</p><p>Although a commercial opportunity, development of Etinde has the potential to help the poorest in Cameroonian society; creating jobs, improving local skills, generating wealth and contributing towards community development.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In 2016 there were 210,000 UK VAT registered importers and exporters for trade in goods with the EU, of which 138,000 traded solely with EU Member States.</p><p>In July, my Rt Hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for International Trade, appointed Andrew Mitchell as Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe to lead the Department’s efforts to grow the UK’s trading relationship with the EU.</p><p>The recently announced £5 million uplift for our overseas network in Europe will build upon and strengthen our trade and investment links with European partners as we leave the EU, and support UK businesses to be able to sustain and grow exports and investment as we move into a new trading environment in Europe.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Since the vote to leave the EU, and the formation of DIT, Scottish exports of goods and services have risen substantially. In the year to 2018Q2, Scottish exports of goods and services (excluding exports to the rest of the UK) totalled £32.4bn, an increase of 14.2% from the year to 2016Q2, but Scottish exports as % of Scottish GDP was 20.6% compared to 30.4% for UK exports as % of UK GDP (Sources: Scottish Government, GDP Quarterly National Accounts 2018Q2, ONS GDP First Quarterly Estimate 2018Q3).</p><p>Reaching our UK aim of 35% and exploiting the benefits of post-EU trade deals will be helped by significant improvement in Scottish exporting performance, greater awareness of DIT services in Scotland and the constructive support of the Scottish Government.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The government’s Export Strategy addresses how government will maximise the impact of work for UK businesses and the UK economy across all sectors. In relation to defence exports, the Department for International Trade (DIT) supports the Defence Growth Partnership (DGP) which aims to secure a competitive, sustainable and globally successful UK defence sector.</p><p> </p><p>The UK has a track record of success in its defence industry, achieving defence orders worth £9bn in 2017 and sustaining tens of thousands of highly skilled manufacturing and engineering-based jobs across the UK.</p><p> </p><p>HMG takes its arms export responsibilities very seriously and operates one of the most robust arms export control regimes in the world.
