unstar this property answer text <p>HM Treasury is working with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to support the financial sustainability of local councils, so they can continue to offer a range of vital services to their local authorities.</p><p> </p><p>Departments have been commissioned to carry out the work necessary for a 3-year Spending Review concluding this Autumn.</p><p> </p><p>However, it will be for the new Government to decide whether the circumstances make it appropriate to conduct a full 3-year Spending Review, or a single year exercise.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>I have regular discussions with the Home Secretary and the Communities Secretary about their budgets, including the impact of any government policy that may affect local authority finances.</p><p> </p><p>We need to make sure our immigration system is fair, while also protecting the taxpayer. There are already exemptions to the ‘no recourse to public funds’ condition for those in genuine need, such as those facing destitution or to protect the welfare of a child. I would expect the relevant departments to raise any issues at the Spending Review, where we can consider how we fund our priorities across government.</p><p> </p><p>Local Government Core Spending Power is increasing in real terms this year. We have provided an additional £650m for social care in 2019-20.</p> more like this

It is for the Scottish Government to determine the allocation of funds from within its own budgets.</p><p> </p><p>The Chancellor of the Exchequer has regular discussions with Cabinet colleagues on a range of matters. The Government will consult on the local government finance settlement for 2019/20 in due course.
