	answer	answer answer text <p>No assessment has been made on adding a test for 22q11 deletion syndrome to the newborn blood spot test as the United Kingdom National Screening Committee’s (UK NSC) had not previously been asked to look at this condition.</p><p> </p><p>However, as part of the UK NSC`s annual call for topics 2018, a proposal was received to consider adding the condition of 22q11 deletion syndrome (also known as DiGeorge syndrome) to the new born blood spot programme.</p><p> </p><p>This is the first time the UK NSC has been asked to consider screening for 22q11. The UK NSC will be reviewing the proposal at its meeting at the end of the month and to agree next steps. 	answer	answer answer text <p>Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and health evidence reviews have been prepared by scientific expert groups in the United Kingdom and around the world. The independent Advisory Group on Non-ionising Radiation (AGNIR) published their report in the UK in 2012 and the European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) published their report in 2015. The World Health Organization is also currently preparing a review. 	answer	answer answer text <p>The government believes that all schools can benefit from becoming an academy as part of a multi-academy trust (MAT). The department does not think it is necessary at this time to set a timescale for this ambition to be realised.</p><p>Academy conversion remains a positive choice for many schools who are voluntarily choosing to convert to enjoy the benefits of autonomy and working in collaboration with other schools as part of a MAT. More than 50% of all pupils in state funded schools in England are educated in an academy or free school. The department has been clear that maintained schools are only required to become sponsored academies, due to educational underperformance, if they are judged inadequate by Ofsted.</p>

	answer	answer answer text <p>A maintained school governing body may apply to my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State, to use his powers to revoke an academy order. The governing body must have agreed to apply for revocation by a majority vote for the application to be considered by the Secretary of State.</p><p>The department’s statutory guidance on schools causing concern makes clear that the Secretary of State’s power to revoke an academy order will only be used in very exceptional circumstances. These circumstances may include where a maintained school is not viable, and it is most appropriate for it to close, or where Ofsted have re-inspected the school and judged that it is no longer inadequate, and the current leadership and management is capable of driving continued improvement.</p><p> </p>

The non-recoverable deficit funding provided has helped stabilise AET’s finances and support its long-term viability. AET is the largest multi-academy trust in the country responsible for over 60 academies and over 33,000 pupils.</p><p> </p>

	answer	answer answer text <p>As set out in the National Audit Office 2010 report on the academies programme, “In September 2009, the government removed altogether the requirement for sponsors to make a financial contribution to new academies that open in the 2010-11 academic year.”</p><p> </p><p>The government is investing £23 billion of capital funding in the school estate between 2016-17 and 2020-21 to deliver new school places, rebuild or refurbish buildings in the worst condition and deliver thousands of condition projects across the school estate.</p><p> </p><p>A large proportion of school capital funding is delivered through annual allocations to local authorities and larger multi-academy trusts (MATs). This includes basic need funding to local authorities to meet their duty to ensure there are enough places for children in their areas and annual allocations to local authorities and MATs to maintain the condition of estates. Alongside these allocations, the department also delivers major building programmes centrally.
