In this instance, releasing this information at the level of any annual breakdown may assist in determining the effectiveness of detecting cyber-attacks on the NHS, and could compromise measures to protect NHS IT systems, leaving them vulnerable to future cyber-attacks.</p><p>However, in total, over £250 million will have been invested nationally to improve the cyber security of the health and care system between 2016 and 2021. This excludes both investment by local organisations, and wider national IT investment which supports better security such as Microsoft licensing for NHS organisations.</p><p>Regarding the steps taken to defend against cyber attacks on the NHS, the active cyber defence of NHS organisations is a local responsibility for each organisation to carry out. However, there is national support and practical guidance available to NHS organisations which is primarily delivered by NHS Digital but supported and prioritised for the highest risk organisations by NHS England and the Department. In the event of national-scale incidents that affect many health and care organisations, NHS Digital plays a vital role in coordinating and ensuring appropriate technical remediation, as part of the wider cross-system cyber security response led by the Department.</p>

	answer	answer answer text <p>The United Kingdom supports European Council Recommendation 1999/519/EC on limiting exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs), which include radio waves. The Recommendation incorporates exposure restrictions from the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), as advised by Public Health England (PHE).</p><p>An overview of the radio wave exposure restrictions applied in a range of countries has been provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) at the following link:</p><p><a href="http://apps.who.int/gho/data/node.main.EMFLIMITSPUBLICRADIOFREQUENCY?lang=en" target="_blank">http://apps.who.int/gho/data/node.main.EMFLIMITSPUBLICRADIOFREQUENCY?lang=en</a></p><p>This shows that the majority of countries are following the ICNIRP guidelines (41 volts per meter at 900 MHz and 58 volts per meter at 1,800 MHz).</p><p>PHE is a collaborating body in WHO’s International EMF Project, which brings together organisations from around the world to share information on this topic. PHE is committed to keeping its advice under review and to updating its advice should new evidence dictate that is necessary.</p>

	answer	answer answer text <p>Membership data from the NHS Pension Scheme shows the number of hospital doctors and general practitioners (GPs) claiming their pension earlier than their normal pension age.</p><p>Whilst the scheme does not require individuals to give reasons for claiming their pension, the rise in voluntary early retirement rates coincides with reductions in pension tax allowances over the same period. The annual and lifetime allowances limit the amount by which an individual can grow their pension tax-free each year and in total. There is emerging evidence that pension tax may be a factor in doctors deciding to retire early or limit their National Health Service commitments. 	answer	answer answer text <p>The UK National Screening Committee advised that Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) is a more sensitive and accurate test than guaiac faecal occult blood test (FOBt), and that more bowel cancers could be detected, and recommended that FIT should replace the currently used FOB test.</p><p> </p><p>Full replacement of the current FOBt with FIT across all Hubs in the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme is planned for summer 2019.</p>

	answer	answer answer text <p>The United Kingdom’s national action plan for antimicrobial resistance (AMR), published on 24 January 2019, takes a fully integrated and comprehensive One-Health approach for tackling AMR, and includes challenging five-year commitments across human and animal health, agriculture, the environment and food.</p><p>Without more research into AMR in the environment we cannot design effective interventions to minimise risk and protect public health, food production and natural ecosystems. The national action plan therefore includes commitments to deepen our understanding about AMR in the environment, including a specific commitment to explore the establishment of a river catchment-based research programme with clear standards for sample collection, analysis and review, with the aim of delivering AMR monitoring data that can be used to evaluate existing management interventions and inform new policy initiatives.</p><p>The Environment Agency is working with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and water companies to undertake an extensive programme of investigations to assess a wide range of chemicals entering rivers through wastewater treatment works. As part of this programme, levels of four antibiotics have been monitored in treated sewage effluent in order to quantify levels. The choice of antibiotics was based on the levels of prescription and environmental toxicity studies. Outputs will inform the development of future policy and regulatory decisions.</p><p>The Department is establishing a UK AMR national action plan delivery board which will drive and oversee delivery of this work.</p><p><strong> </strong></p>

	answer	answer answer text <p>We have now reached agreement with the European Union on an extension until 31 October 2019 at the latest, with the option to leave earlier as soon as a deal has been ratified. Although Parliament has rejected leaving without a deal multiple times, this remains the legal default at the end of the extension period, unless a deal is passed by Parliament.</p><p>In light of the extension, Departments will make sensible decisions about the timing and pace at which some of this work is progressing, but we will continue to prepare for all exit scenarios. We remain focused on ensuring our smooth and orderly withdrawal from the EU with a deal as soon as possible.</p><p>The Department is considering the impact on our EU exit preparations and we are working closely with our stakeholders to review our position.</p><p>While we never give guarantees, we are confident that, if everyone does what they need to do, the supply of medicines and medical products, including for supplies of clinical trials and investigations, will be uninterrupted in the event we leave the EU without a deal.</p><p>In terms of EU exit preparations for local National Health Service organisations, on 18 April 2019 Professor Keith Willett, EU Exit Strategic Commander at NHS England and NHS Improvement, wrote to clinical commissioning group and trust Chief Executives to update them on the further extension to Article 50, and the actions that now need to be taken locally to continue to prepare for the United Kingdom’s exit from the EU. 	answer	answer answer text <p>The role of Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) will form a core part of the Mental Health Support Teams, working with and supervised by local children and young people’s mental health specialist staff who have undertaken EMHP supervisor training and alongside Senior Mental Health Leads in schools and colleges.</p><p>The EMHP is a new role, the education and training of which has been commissioned by Health Education England. The EMHP training curriculum was developed by an expert reference group including Professor Peter Fonagy, Senior National Clinical Adviser on Children and Young People's Mental Health for NHS England, and is designed to be as accessible as possible and aims to widen participation in the mental health workforce. The one year training programme commenced in January 2019.</p><p>EMHP trainees will:</p><p>- be trained to deliver low intensity interventions with children, young people, and their parents/carers for common mental health problems; and</p><p>- be taught the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively in education settings and to support whole-school approaches to mental health.</p><p>Details of the training programme have not been published.</p>
