This Government has pressed for better information for consumers during negotiations relating to food labelling in Europe.

Food businesses are ultimately responsible for ensuring their products' safety and accurate labelling. However, Government departments and agencies back this up with more than 80,000 risk-based checks per year.In addition, Defra develops validated testing methods under its Food Authenticity Programme to check whether a product has been mislabelled or contaminated. These are then used by Public Analysts and local authorities to support food law enforcement.

more like this

unstar this property answer text
The Government conducts regular assessments to identify risks to energy supply including through the National Risk Assessment and National Security Risk Assessment processes. Government works closely with the supply industry and other stakeholders to ensure there are appropriate mitigation measures in place to strengthen resilience and to protect against risks where it is possible and value for money to do so. For example, supplies of power, gas and fuel across the country were robust to the major flooding earlier this year (though power supplies to flooded properties must be disconnected for safety reasons).

Further, in the event of a situation which threatened to disrupt energy supplies to customers, Government and industry have robust plans in place to manage and respond to such events, which are exercised on a regular basis.

more like this

In line with best practice, a number of options have been evaluated to ensure that Parliamentary security remains effective and responsive to future demands. All options assume that both armed and unarmed police officers will continue to be provided by the Metropolitan Police. It would be inappropriate to provide information on the costs of the new arrangements while negotiations are underway.

The number of police officers and security staff required under the new arrangements will be determined by Parliament's operational and security requirement and how providers, including the Metropolitan Police Service, propose to meet these requirements. unstar this property answer text
Russia's actions in Ukraine represent the most serious security crisis in Europe this century. As a result, NATO has undertaken a number of measures to reassure Allies in Eastern Alliance territory. These include air policing, maritime deployments and exercising. The UK is playing an active role in delivering NATO reassurance measures and has offered additional support in a number of areas. We are contributing aircraft to reinforce the Baltic Air Policing mission and as part of the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force. We have also augmented some NATO exercises that we were already committed to and are contributing to additional ones. On Wednesday 25 June, the NATO Secretary General announced that NATO Foreign Ministers agreed to develop a robust Readiness Action Plan for the NATO Summit in September. Allies have not made any decision to base forces permanently in the Baltics.
more like this
