Universal Credit (UC) provides personalised and tailored support for all claimants and Work Coaches are available to discuss any queries they may have about their online journals. Claimants can also provide authority for a third party to discuss aspects of their claim on their behalf.</p><p> </p><p>The Department provides mental health training for staff who have direct contact with claimants, including all Work Coaches, to equip them to identify mental wellbeing issues or vulnerabilities, and to take appropriate action to support individuals. Work Coaches will tailor support to the needs of the individual and work closely with local organisations that provide additional specialist support. To enable Work Coaches to provide that tailored experience, with the permission of the claimant, they are able to record, in a free text format, through the use of ‘pinned notes’ in the UC system, information which supports staff in identifying and managing relevant experiences and circumstances of individual claimants.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is committed to providing the best possible support for all our claimants, including the most vulnerable in society, in both making and maintaining their claim. All non-commercial dogs, cats and ferrets entering Great Britain on approved routes under the Pet Travel rules undergo 100% documentary and identity checks by authorised pet checkers.</p><p> </p><p>Authorised pet checkers are trained by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) prior to being granted approval and receive annual audits of their checking and processing to ensure they uphold our requirements. They also receive refresher training and are encouraged to liaise with their APHA contacts to identify non-compliance trends and additional training requirements.</p><p> </p><p>Pet checkers will refuse travel or share intelligence with the APHA who can intercept at the port/border if non-compliance is suspected.</p> question first answered 21/09/2021 13:20:29

LAs are responsible for making decisions on how to spend their local allocation but the public health grant conditions make it clear that they must have regard for the need to improve the take up of, and outcomes from, their drug and alcohol misuse treatment services. 	answer	answer answer text <p>Treasury Ministers and officials meet regularly with colleagues across Government, and the various regulators, to discuss a wide range of issues. As was the case with previous Administrations, it is not the Treasury's practice to provide details of all such discussions.</p><p> </p><p>The Government’s shareholding in the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is managed at arm’s length from Government by UK Financial Investments (UKFI). UKFI is responsible for managing the shareholding on a wholly commercial basis, in a way that creates and protects value for the taxpayer. UKFI is not responsible, for managing the bank itself; RBS retains its own board for strategic and management decisions. Decisions on overdraft fees are solely within the remit of the bank.</p><p> </p><p>The Government supports the work the Financial Conduct Authority is carrying out on high-cost credit, including overdrafts, and will continue to work with them to ensure that all consumers who use high-cost credit products are treated fairly.</p> question first answered 12/09/2017 10:38:46

The UK can only contribute in ways agreed with the authorities in the relevant Member State and in compliance with EU law.</p><p>The UK has established a £10 million Refugee Children Fund for Europe to support the needs of vulnerable refugee and migrant children arriving in Europe. The fund includes targeted support to meet the specific needs of un-accompanied and separated children. 	answer	answer answer text <p>The Human Rights Act 1998 requires that primary and subordinate legislation must be given effect in a way that is compatible with the Convention rights defined in Act.</p><p> </p><p>Detainees in the immigration detention estate, including those in Dungavel immigration removal centre (IRC), must be treated in accordance with the Detention Centre Rules 2001, the operating standards for IRCs and Detention Services Orders.</p><p> </p><p>Service providers for IRCs are contractually required to comply with all relevant UK legislation.</p><p> </p><p>IRCs are subject to statutory oversight by Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons and by Independent Monitoring Boards who are both members of the National Preventative Mechanism comprising a group of independent bodies which monitor the treatment of and conditions for detainees.</p><p> </p><p>This contributes to the UK’s response to its international obligations under the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (OPCAT).</p> question first answered 10/07/2017 13:02:32

The manifesto commitment to get one million more disabled people in work by 2027 gives us a clear, ambitious, and time bound goal.</p><p> </p><p>We set out our continued commitment to improving employment rates for disabled people and people with long-term health conditions in <em>Improving Lives: the Future of Work, Health and Disability</em>. We believe people should get the support they need whatever their health condition or disability, whether that’s from their employer, from the health system or from the welfare system.</p><p> </p><p>We have invested in our Personal Support Package, which includes £330 million of funding over four years with a range of new interventions and initiatives designed to provide support that is tailored to the individual needs of claimants. We have recruited 300 additional Disability Employment Advisers and we are introducing 200 new Community Partners, bringing specialist advice and support into the Jobcentre.</p><p> </p><p>We are supporting employers to help them recruit and retain disabled people and people with health conditions through Disability Confident, the Access to Work scheme, and specialist advisers in Jobcentres.</p><p> </p><p>Recognising the importance of enabling people to remain in work, we want to reform the Statutory Sick Pay system so that it more effectively supports returns to work, and we are exploring how to shape, fund and deliver transformational change to provide effective occupational health services that can support people in work.</p> question first answered 28/06/2018 15:52:20

All work coaches across the Jobcentre Plus network receive training on supporting people with health conditions and disabilities and we have developed an enhanced mental health training programme, which is now available in every country and region across the UK.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the roll out of the Health and Work Conversation across the UK supports work coaches to continue to build engagement with claimants with disabilities and health issues, backed by comprehensive new training which builds skills of empathy and active listening.
