However, this financial year the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has funded three projects that relate to the provision of care to the elderly in China, which all involve collaboration between UK and Chinese partners in the healthcare sector.</p><p> </p><p>The three projects amount to £200,000. It is worth noting that in December British organisations signed deals worth in excess of £100 million during the largest ever healthcare trade mission to China. Given wider demographic trends, the elderly care sector in China is an area of potential future commercial opportunity, to which UK providers are well-placed to respond. A single payment of Universal Credit enables a household to clearly see the effect of their decisions about work on total household income. The Government believes that people within a household are best placed to make the money management choices that are most appropriate for them and a single payment enables them to do just that.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, Universal Credit is designed to mirror work so that when claimants enter work there are only a minimal number of changes for claimants to undergo. As employers pay employees and do not divide salary payments amongst households, the UC payment arrangements mirror that.</p><p> </p><p>Research carried out for the Department for Work and Pensions suggest that only 2 per cent of married couples and 7 per cent of cohabiting couples keep their finances completely separate, so these arrangements fit with how the majority of people organise their lives. In exceptional circumstances, if a couple do not agree on an account into which their Universal Credit is to be paid, a decision maker in the Department will nominate a person in the household. This gives significant help, including up to £2,000 lump or a lease extension for 6 months, the option to buy their old scheme vehicle, and can obtain help to adapt any new, non-scheme vehicle.</p><p> </p><p>More people between the age of 60-64 have had successful reassessment claims for PIP than any other age group. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/02/2017 answer text <p>We have not assessed the very latest trends in inflation on low income families with children but have supplied latest published estimates for 2014/15 in the form of absolute low income rates and numbers for children and their families.</p><p> </p><p>Rates and numbers of children in both relative and absolute low income households are published annually in Households Below Average Income. Chapter 4 in ‘supporting tables’ show various income breakdowns for children and their families</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/households-below-average-income-199495-to-201415" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/households-below-average-income-199495-to-201415</a></p><p> </p><p>The absolute low income threshold is based on 60% of median income in 2010/11 and is then uprated by inflation for each year thereafter. As such the absolute measure captures how low income has changed with reference to inflation.</p><p> </p><p>Latest data show:</p><p>- Since 2010 there are 200,000 fewer children in absolute low income (and 100,000 fewer children in relative low income) on a Before Housing Costs basis.</p><p>- In 2015 there were 2.3 million children in absolute low income Before Housing Costs – a joint record low.</p><p>- Between 2014 and 2015, average incomes grew at their fastest rate since 2002.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>This Government is committed to building a country that works for everyone – not just the privileged few.
