star this property answer text <p>Solar PV is a UK success story. In 2013 we estimated that solar capacity would reach 10-12GW by 2020. We now expect Government support to bring forward around 13 GW by 2020. The Feed-in Tariff remains open to solar PV which provides an incentive for businesses to invest in rooftop solar.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government has engaged constructively with the European Parliament's Committee of Inquiry into Money Laundering, Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion‎.</p><p> </p><p>In February 2017, the previous Financial Secretary to the Treasury and the previous Economic Secretary to the Treasury wrote to the Chair of the European Parliament to set out the extensive recent steps the UK had taken in these areas. In the same month, Members of the Committee visited London and met with senior officials from the UK's cross-agency Panama Papers Taskforce to discuss their important work.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In 2010 the government inherited the largest deficit since the Second World War at 9.9% of GDP in 2009-10. Since then the government has reduced the deficit by three quarters to 2.4% of GDP last year. Without this reduction the level of debt would be even higher than its level of 86.8% of GDP at the end of March 2017.</p><p> </p><p>The government has committed to ensure Public Sector Net Debt as a share of GDP is falling in 2020-21. In their March 2017 forecast the Office for Budget Responsibility forecast that the government will meet this target two years early in 2018-19.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Time spent in temporary accommodation means that no family with a child ever has to be without a roof over their heads. The number of households in temporary accommodation is well below the peak over a decade ago, in 2005.</p><p>But temporary accommodation is an intermediate measure. This government changed the law to allow councils to place families in decent and affordable private rented homes. This means homeless households do not have to wait as long for settled accommodation, spending less time in temporary accommodation.</p><p>We have also replaced DWP’s Temporary Accommodation Management Fee with a Flexible Homelessness Support Grant which local authorities can use more strategically to prevent and tackle homelessness. This amounts to £402m over the two years from 2017/18.</p><p>This government is implementing the most ambitious legislative reform in decades, the Homelessness Reduction Act, which significantly reforms England’s homelessness legislation, ensuring that more people get the help they need earlier to prevent them from becoming homeless in the first place.</p><p>The Act places duties on local authorities to intervene at earlier stages to prevent homelessness in their areas. It also requires local authorities to provide new homelessness services to all those affected, not just those who are protected under existing legislation.</p><p>I will place detailed figures in the Library of the House.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The Government’s statutory Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy (CWIS), published in April 2017, sets out a number of actions to increase the level of cycling, alongside £1.2 billion of funding that may be invested in cycling and walking in England over the period to 2021.</p><p> </p><p>Since the publication of the Strategy, the Department has identified additional funding for cycling and walking schemes, including around £77 million of support for schemes via the National Productivity Investment Fund. The Government also announced a new £1.7 billion Transforming Cities Fund in the Autumn Budget which will allow a number of cities to support projects aimed at improving local connectivity by boosting cycling and walking. The Department has commenced a major programme of technical support to help 44 local authorities in England develop their Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs).</p><p> </p><p>The Government launched a call for evidence on how to improve safety for cycling and walking in March 2018 as part of the CWIS Safety Review. The Department for Transport is currently assessing over 13,000 responses and will publish its response in due course.</p>

Further escalation of trade tensions between the EU and US would be damaging to both the EU and US economies.</p><p>The Government has been engaging directly with the US administration, including through 5 Ministerial visits to the US, meetings with senior administration figures and the recent visit of President Trump to the UK.</p><p>We welcome the agreement between President Juncker and President Trump to open negotiations to avoid further escalation that would harm businesses and consumers.</p> more like this
