Where parents have missed out on Tax-Free Childcare payments HMRC will pay compensation to reimburse them. As at 11 January 2018, the average payment made to a parent who had received a payment in lieu of missed Tax-Free Childcare payments was £274. HMRC also makes redress payments to recompense parents for inconvenience and expenses such as telephone calls to the helpline. Where parents have experienced technical issues, HMRC has arrangements in place to ensure that they do not miss out as a result. Manual codes are issued to enable parents to access a 30 hours place when they are eligible if they cannot get a digital code within the required timeline. In England, the new levy revenue will be invested in giving school-aged children a brighter and healthier future.
