	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/11/2018 answer text <p>The detail of the UK’s association to the EU Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation &amp; restriction of Chemicals programme after the UK leaves the EU is part of ongoing negotiations. The UK and the EU have a mutual interest in maintaining our integrated chemical supply chains as the chemicals industry is an economically significant sector in both regions, and it underpins key downstream sectors including automotive, aerospace, construction and pharmaceuticals. In the White Paper on our future relationship with the European Union published in July, the UK has proposed that chemicals are part of a UK-EU free trade area on goods, with continued UK participation in the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) underpinning this arrangement. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/07/2017 answer text <p>In December 2016, Defra consulted on proposals to introduce Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) emissions controls on generators alongside its consultation on proposals for the implementation of the Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD), aimed at improving air quality. The definition of generators used in the proposal captures those with a rated input of between 1MW thermal and 50MW thermal, although site aggregation means that some plants below this amount may also be affected if the total input on the same site falls within the proposed range. Insufficient controls on diesel generator emissions risk distorting electricity markets by encouraging new diesel at the expense of cleaner gas generation. Following the consultation on tightening controls, the 2016/17 capacity market auctions resulted in significantly fewer new diesel projects. The presence of the Government guarantee has enabled the Scheme Trustees to invest so as to target surpluses, which has resulted in a 30% increase in payments to members. We applaud the work done by the local council in the hon. Member’s own constituency with the Plymouth Energy Community.</p><p>Since 2013, the UK Government has committed over £16m to support community energy. This includes the Rural Community Energy Fund which continues to offer feasibility and development finance for renewable energy projects. Community renewable energy projects also remain eligible to apply for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme.</p><p>We are pleased to support events of the current Community Energy Fortnight (24<sup>th</sup> June – 7<sup>th</sup> July) and are reviewing the latest State of the Sector report by Community Energy England.</p><p>This Government sees community energy as an important part of a wider local energy ecosystem; with cities, municipalities and local partners driving this agenda. The low carbon sector already brings significant benefits to the UK, employing over 230,000 people directly and another 200,000 through supply chains. Within the sector, the UK has established world-leading expertise in several areas of green technology, including offshore wind and electric vehicles. Since 2012, over £56 billion has been invested in renewable energy generation in the UK. In 2016, one in five battery electric cars sold in the EU was made in the UK.</p><p>Certainty for the UK’s energy policy is provided by several frameworks, including the Climate Change Act 2008.
