<p>The Government takes the issue of police welfare very seriously and has invested
in programmes which offer help directly to officers.</p><p> </p><p>In July 2017 the
Home Secretary awarded £7.5 million from the Police Transformation Fund over 3 years
to pilot and, if it is successful fund a dedicated national service to help provide
enhanced welfare support to serving police officers and staff.</p><p> </p><p>The timing
of any roll out will, in part, depend upon the outcomes of the pilot, scheduled to
be carried out over 2017/18 to 2018/19. The evaluation will form a key part of future
decisions about the national service in 2019/20.</p>
