The £500million Youth Investment Fund will provide multi-year funding for new and refurbished youth clubs, support for detached youth work, investment in youth worker skills, and for community-based youth projects. The new £500m Youth Investment Fund will start in 2020/21 and run over five years. Applied over ten years, the funding will be used by the Youth Endowment Fund to support interventions steering children and young people away from involvement in crime and violence and to find, generate and apply best available evidence about which approaches are most successful.</p><p>The Youth Endowment Fund has been established to operate independently of Government, and publishes information about its activities here: <a href="https://impetus.org.uk/youth-endowment-fund.%20" target="_blank">https://impetus.org.uk/youth-endowment-fund. </a></p><p>The £200m endowment was awarded at the end of March by way of a Grant Agreement. Since this award, Impetus has rapidly been establishing the Youth Endowment Fund’s operations and has launched its first call for proposals. This is an open call, to fund and evaluate interventions primarily targeting young people aged 10-14 who are judged to be at risk of being drawn into crime and violence. This first funding round opened on the 28 May and will close on the 23 July, at which point applications will be assessed. Under the terms of the Grant Agreement, Impetus is required to ensure that senior remuneration is proportionate and justifiable. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/06/2018 answer text <p>On 9 April 2018, the Government published the Serious Violence Strategy that set out action being taken to address serious violence and in particular the recent increases in knife crime, gun crime and homicide. The Strategy emphasises the importance of early intervention to raise awareness of the consequences of knife crime among young people and to encourage them to take up positive activities.</p><p>This includes working with those who have previously offended through both the voluntary sector and statutory services. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/07/2019 answer text <p>The Serious Violence Strategy, published in April last year, sets out our assessment of the risk and protective factors which impact on an individual’s likelihood of becoming involved in serious violence as a victim or perpetrator. The impact of adverse childhood experiences are highlighted within this context. The Strategy stresses the importance of early intervention to tackle the root causes of serious violence and provide young people with the skills and resilience to lead productive lives free from violence. We are investing in early intervention through the £22 million Early Intervention Youth Fund and the longer term £200 million Youth Endowment Fund, to ensure those most at risk are given the opportunity to turn away from crime and violence and lead positive lives.</p><p>Through the Police Transformation Fund, we have also awarded £6.87m to South Wales Police for three years from 2017/18 onwards to deliver the Early Action Together (EAT) project with all four police forces in Wales and a range of partners. The police are working in collaboration with Public Health Wales to develop and test a new approach to policing, which prevents and mitigates Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
