star this property answer text <p>On 17<sup>th</sup> April this year, the Advocate General for Scotland and I referred the UK Withdrawal from the European Union (Legal Continuity) (Scotland) Bill to the Supreme Court for a decision on whether the Bill would be within the legislative competence of the Scottish Parliament.</p><p> </p><p>The hearing is due to take place in July 2018 and we are in the process of agreeing a timetable for filing written cases with the Scottish Government in accordance with directions from the Supreme Court.</p><p> </p> more like this

I have today written to the Prime Minister about an exchange of letters between the Prime Minister and the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission. Given the exceptional circumstances surrounding the vote on the Withdrawal Agreement and the Government's commitment to provide Parliament with information to assist it to understand the Agreement, I have agreed that this letter should be published</p><p>It is available online <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/letter-from-the-attorney-general-to-the-prime-minister-on-the-northern-ireland-protocol" target="_blank">here</a> and copies have been deposited in the Libraries of both Houses.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Triggering Article 50 falls under the prerogative executive power, the powers exercised on behalf of the sovereign by ministers. Triggering Article 50 is something for the Government to get on with. Parliament had its say in legislating for the Referendum, which it did in both Houses, and with cross-party support by a margin of 6 to 1. Parliament was clear it was for the people to decide whether to remain in the EU or leave it. The people have spoken, and it is now down to the Government to act on their orders.</p> more like this
