star this property answer text <p>The Department for Exiting the European Union is working closely with all departments to ensure our preparations for exit from, and new partnership with, the EU are on track. We have established a series of arrangements to coordinate departments’ planning and delivery. <br><br></p><p>As indicated in the National Audit Office report, departments have identified exit work streams that are used to structure engagement with DExEU. The structure and development of workstreams is part of ongoing cross-government work to develop and assess potential policy options. There are currently c.300 workstreams, but this number is updated regularly.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>All departments are equipping themselves with the resources they need to get the best deal for the UK. The Department for Exiting the European Union now has over 600 staff based in the UK plus the expertise of over 120 officials in Brussels. We regularly review headcount to ensure that we are appropriately staffed to deal with all aspects of the negotiations.</p><p>The Department is responsible for overseeing EU exit negotiations, as well as establishing the future relationship between the UK and EU. As such, all staff in the Department are dedicated to planning or supporting our work on EU exit.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As part of our work preparing to make a success of our departure from the European Union we are undertaking a broad range of sectoral analysis covering the entirety of the UK economy, including the chemicals industry.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to the best possible deal for the United Kingdom - a deal that works for the entirety of the UK economy. We have been engaging with businesses and industry bodies from all sectors of the economy in order to inform our negotiations with the EU. On 17th November 2016 government officials attended the Chemical Industries Association Conference and on 6th November 2017 I met with CIA representatives to further understand the opportunities and challenges for the chemicals sector as a result of the UK’s exit from the EU. The UK chemicals sector is a strategically important industry for our country. In the UK, we are global leaders, and we are determined that we continue to be world-leading in this space.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The European Union (Withdrawal) Bill is designed to ensure that the UK exits the EU with certainty, continuity and control. This is an essential Bill in the national interest.</p><p> </p><p>No decision-making power that is currently exercised by the devolved administrations will be taken away by this Bill.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In addition, it is the Government’s expectation and intention that the return of competences from the European Union will result in a significant addition to the powers exercised in future by the devolved administrations.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>We are making good progress with the devolved administrations on where common approaches will and will not be needed and are continuing our intensive discussions on an amendment to clause 11 of the Bill.</p><p> </p> more like this
