star this property answer text <p>We are deeply concerned that Bangladesh and Burma have announced that they plan to begin repatriation of the Rohingya to Burma in mid-November. We agree with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) that the conditions for returns do not yet exist. The UK continues to raise our concerns at the highest levels with both military and civilian Ministers in the Government of Burma. The UK and the UN Security Council have been clear, we want both Burma and Bangladesh to take solid and constructive steps to create the conditions that will allow the Rohingya to return safely, voluntarily and with dignity to Rakhine state. The Rohingya need to be well-informed about the situation they may return to, and there needs to be independent international monitoring of any returns.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Justice published the Female Offender Strategy on 27 June 2018, which sets out their plan to improve outcomes for women in the community and custody.</p><p> </p><p>As part of this, Government is investing £5 million of funding over two years in community provision for women. A £3.5m grant funding competition was also launched for 2018/19 and 2019/20, which included £2m Domestic Abuse funding for female offenders from Home Office.</p><p> </p><p>Through her involvement with MoJ’s Advisory Board on Female Offenders, Victoria Atkins, Minister for Women, will have extensive engagement on how to support women in the justice system who have been in abusive relationships.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Home Office is funding projects which aim to better support women in the criminal justice system through the Violence Against Women and Girls Transformation fund. This includes a pilot of Sexual Violence Court Advocates and additional services provided to women in custody.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The UK played a key role in establishing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and we are determined to be at the forefront of delivering them.</p><p> </p><p>To support developing countries to respond to the challenges of climate change, the UK has pledged to provide at least £5.8bn of International Climate Finance between 2016/17 and 2020/21. Since 2011 UK climate investments have supported 47 million people to cope with the effects of climate change and provided 17 million people with improved access to clean energy.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is also working with the UN to lead international efforts on resilience for the UN Secretary General’s Climate Summit in 2019.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>There are significant humanitarian needs in Cameroon with over 460,000 people displaced by recent violence in the Anglophone regions, in addition to the 700,000 people displaced as a result of insecurity both in the far north around Lake Chad and in the Central African Republic. More than 3.3 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. We are providing £5.5 million in humanitarian support to Cameroon this year, including for protection, nutrition, health, food security and livelihoods.</p> more like this
