	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/06/2015 answer text <p>The UK maintains that a short set of goals and targets to replace the Millennium Development Goals would be ideal, but we recognise the strong consensus among UN member states to maintain the Sustainable Development goals and targets on the Open Working Group in their current form.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK has consistently supported the content of the proposed Sustainable Development Goals. In particular we welcomed his proposal for six ‘essential elements’ as a way to communicate the agenda in an inspiring and concise way to citizens everywhere. The Report proposed 17 goals and 169 targets. It reflects many of the UK priorities for the Post-2015 agenda including on poverty eradication, gender, sustainable development and open societies and open economies.</p><p> </p><p>The next step will be for the United Nations Secretary General to deliver his Synthesis Report in the Autumn in preparation for intergovernmental negotiations in January 2015.
