Network Rail will engage with local disability groups to ensure that designs meet the needs of all passengers.</p><p> </p><p>£20m of this funding is available for smaller scale access improvements and we will welcome nominations for projects that provide improvements for non-visible disabilities, such as autism.</p><p> </p><p>Direct awards and future franchise replacements will also require train operators to deliver staff disability training which includes awareness of non-visible disabilities.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

HS2 Ltd recognises that its performance needs to improve. It is implementing a number of measures, including increasing resources, to alleviate the issue.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Ahead of a potential exit on 29 March, DfT worked with a number of Departments to develop planning assumptions for a potential no deal exit. Since April, Departments have reviewed the planning assumptions and developed new assumptions based on the most recent information from Member States and in light of the extension to 31 October 2019. These assumptions are focused on a reasonable worst case scenario, rather than what we expect to happen, and have already been shared with key partners to support revision of contingency plans, where appropriate, for a potential no deal scenario on 31 October. These planning assumptions remain under review throughout the planning process. The Government does not publish sensitive risk assessments of this nature.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Mark’s Tey Station, in the Witham constituency, was one of 320 nominations received for the latest round of Access for All funding. It was not selected as there were other stations nominated in the region which had either third party match funding or higher footfall. A list of all 320 nominations will be placed in the Library of the House.</p><p>Stations were not given a weighted score but were assessed against a range of criteria including annual footfall, the incidence of disability in the area, the availability of third party funding for the project, and the priorities of the rail industry itself. We also took into account local factors such as proximity to a hospital. Stations were also chosen to ensure a fair geographical spread of projects across the country.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK played a key role in the agreement of an ambitious IMO Greenhouse Gas Strategy in April 2018. The Government is committed to the IMO’s 2050 goal and broader ambition to fully decarbonise the international shipping industry.</p><p> </p><p>The UK continues to play an active role at the IMO to ensure that the ambitions in the strategy are met, and that short and mid-term measures are agreed and adopted as soon as possible. The UK is working with international partners and industry on measures to encourage a global transition to low and zero carbon marine energy sources.</p><p> </p><p>The Government will be publishing the UK’s first ‘Clean Maritime Plan’ later this summer, which will outline how we intend to support the transition to zero emissions shipping in the UK.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In January 2019 the Government published Maritime 2050, which set out strategic ambitions for the future of the maritime sector, including a vision for zero emission shipping. In Maritime 2050, we committed to assess how economic instruments could support the transition to zero emission shipping in the medium to long term. We also committed to consider whether and how the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) could be used to encourage the uptake of low carbon fuels in maritime.</p><p> </p><p>Government will this week publish the Clean Maritime Plan, which will set out further detail on our plans to create incentives for shipping companies to reduce both air quality pollutant emissions and carbon dioxide. I will make a further statement to the House on the measures included within the plan on the day of publication.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Maritime and Coastguard Agency routinely invite a range of Government and industry stakeholders to a preparatory briefing meeting prior to each International Maritime Organisation session, including the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC).</p><p> </p><p>At these meetings the attendees will discuss the maritime issues on the agenda and provide advice on these issues. Both the UK Government and its maritime stakeholders are committed to maritime safety including (a) seafarer and (b) ferry industry safety. No specific discussions on either of these issues were raised at this session of the MSC.</p><p> </p><p>Some areas of discussion were on: the development of further measures to enhance safety of ships relating to fuel oil; shipborne towing and mooring; testing of lifesaving appliances; and, proposed new outputs for the Organisation, which will have an effect on the overall safety of seafarers.</p> more like this
