unstar this property answer text <p>The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) took on responsibility for Countryside Stewardship and Environmental Stewardship in October 2018, and is simplifying the administration of the schemes as far as possible under the current EU system by streamlining processes, making changes to IT systems and boosting the workforce to speed up processing.</p><p> </p><p>All eligible Countryside Stewardship 2016 and 2017 claims have received a payment apart from exceptional cases, for example, those that cannot be paid for legal reasons such as probate. Any claim that was not paid a 2018 advance payment by the end of March was issued a bridging payment in early April.</p><p> </p><p>The RPA is on track to meet its commitment to complete 95% of 2018 final payments on claims by the end of July.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>When Countryside Stewardship was launched in 2015 Defra and Natural England set an ambition of delivering 500 new Higher Tier agreements each year.</p><p> </p><p>There have been four agreement rounds since then and there are currently 2,253 live Higher Tier agreements plus a further 782 woodland only agreements. Therefore, the ambition has been exceeded. For the current 2019/20 year the ambition is to deliver 400 new agreements. In addition to this we are extending a number of the expiring Environmental Stewardship Higher Level Stewardship agreements which are performing well in terms of meeting their environmental outcomes in Priority Habitat and Site of Special Scientific Interest areas.</p> more like this

All eligible annual revenue claims for 2015 to 2017 have received a payment, with the exception of those held for legal reasons such as probate. Payments for 2018 are underway. There is no regulatory deadline for Countryside Stewardship 2018 revenue payments; we advise most claimants to expect a payment within 12 months. 95% of claims will receive an advance payment by April 2019. There are no 2018 payments more than one year outstanding.</p> more like this

The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) is working towards paying 95% of 2018 advance payments by the end of March and will issue bridging payments, in early April, to eligible agreement holders who have not received a payment by the end of March. In addition the RPA is aiming to pay 95% of eligible final payments by the end of July 2019.</p><p> </p><p>The RPA took on administration of Countryside Stewardship in October 2018 and is continuing to simplify the administration of the scheme as far as possible under the current EU system.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Natural England (NE), rather than the Rural Payments Agency (RPA), currently administer the Countryside Stewardship Scheme. That activity, together with that for Environmental Stewardship, will transfer to the RPA later this year. Around 83% of 2017 Countryside Stewardship claimants have so far received either a full or advance payment. Bridging payments are now being made to the remaining 17% of agreement holders. Performance has fallen well short of expectations on the delivery of 2017 payments. Defra, alongside its delivery bodies, is committed to resolving this as quickly as possible.</p><p> </p> more like this

Customers will receive 75% of the current estimated value of their Countryside Stewardship 2017 claim. When the balance payment is made, the total amount paid is subject to the usual EU co-funding arrangements and is reimbursed from the EU budget; there is therefore no additional cost to the UK Exchequer budget.</p> more like this

Those farmers and land managers who have joined Countryside Stewardship since its start in 2016 will have several years of their five year agreements still to run.
