Sport England is currently in discussions with National Disability Sports Organisations, about the role they can play to support the delivery of Government's strategy for sport and physical activity, Sporting Future, which is focused on tackling inactivity in priority groups, such as disabled people. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/07/2017 answer text <p>The best sources of data available to identify the number of people participating in sporting activities in a) North Swindon constituency and b) England in each of the last five years is Sport England’s Active People Survey and its Active Lives Survey, both of which are accessible via Sport England’s website.</p><p> </p><p>The Active People Survey collected data on participation rates across England from October 2005 to September 2016. The Active Lives Survey replaced the Active People Survey – using a different methodology to measure participation, but still focusing on England only - and was first published in January 2017. The attached table provided a detailed breakdown.</p><p> </p><p>Both the Active People Survey and Active Lives Survey collect and provide data on people aged 16+. Data on the number below the age of 16 has not been collected to date, though Sport England is currently developing an Active Lives Children Survey, which will include data for children aged 5-15. I think you would agree that is a breathtaking and commendable amount.</p><p> </p><p>This Government is fully committed to helping to build a compassionate country that works for everyone, and this Department will continue its work to make it as easy and compelling as possible to give to charitable causes. We are currently taking steps to help civil society organisations access the tools and training they need to harness the generosity of the public. The Foundation for Social Improvement launched our subsidised fundraising training programme on 6 July this year. In particular, the NCS Act received Royal Assent in April and the NCS Trust were granted a Royal Charter in May 2017. The generous British public already donate so much to charitable causes - almost £10 billion in 2016 - but the feedback from the Roundtables showed that there are further opportunities to make it easier and more compelling to give.</p><p> </p><p>We heard that more needed to be done to support small charities and our subsidised fundraising training programme, launched by the Foundation for Social Improvement on 6 July 2017, delivers that support. This is a multi-year programme which provides expert advice on building the digital fundraising capabilities of small charities. A key component of this work is the recommissioning of the NCS delivery network when the current set of provider contracts expire in autumn 2018.
